Do we think Ada is a Reaper? Her eyes look vaguely phosphorescent, maybe she's Ronnie's partner? Her apparent obsession with hygiene could come from a futuristic understanding of 21st Century medicine and the imperative need for cleanliness in the medical field. Also, JESUS CHRIST A BUTCH LADY WITH THAT HAIRCUT IN A MAN'S JOB???? ...says the Victorian gentleman of Yana's fictional world. Yana isn't known for her historically-correct character designs, but this one is a bit of an anomaly. Ada is nothing like a Victorian woman - even Nina Hopkins, our feminist lesbian queen, is vaguely-conforming to the Victorian aesthetic and propriety. Most characters with non-period qualities and outfits tend to be Reapers, so I have quite a few suspicions. It's also interesting that she uses the word "pathogen", as that was a new word in the 1880s. Maybe this is Yana's way of saying "the Reapers brought the word into the Victorian scientific jargon", similar to her storytelling of mustard gas and the Green Witch. Let me know what you think!
