I'm pretty sure Kitty met Piotr when she was 13. I already find it iffy for her to be in a relationship with a 19 year old so you can imagine how confused I got at people shipping her with comicbook Nightcrawler who was 21.

I feel this is one of those aska where you have the "Aha Gotcha"moments, so let me explain: I have forget her real age as she entered in the X-men but I do find very iffy she was the only child there...why not make her with the New Mutants from the get go?
A 16 years old and a 19-year-old dating wouldn´t be too odd as they are still teens but it would be a very brief sting.
However, Piotr not only looks older but he was others worries in his head that a teen girl couldn´t keep up with so..the fact he agreed in dating Kitty is really odd...and tarnished the character.
Kitty was just a bit older than Yana but to be in perspective, she had more in common with child Yana than Piotr...I would prefer Piotr having slept with Betsy, Dazzler or even pinning for Jean than...dating a teen.
"People shipped Kitty with Kurt" are you looking at me? Prolly. I used to ship the comic version but I always made her an adult bc well, she fucking acted like one (and was drawn as such, especially in Excalibur, like there was a panel where Kitty appeared to have 30 years...) I also loved the Kurtty version in EVO more.
I can´t ship comic Kurt with anyone, ever.
I never get why Kitty was a teen. Never. In many fics I made her older bc It made way more sense.
