Syed Hamadah Othman has been appointed CEO of Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP), effective today.
The civil service pension fund said in a statement toay that Syed Hamadah replaces Datuk Wan Kamaruzaman Wan Ahmad, who announced his resignation recently
“KWAP also wishes to record its thanks and appreciation to the former CEO Datuk Wan Kamaruzaman Wan Ahmad for his services and contributions to KWAP, its beneficiaries, and the nation at large throughout his tenure since he joined the organisation on 2 May 2013,” it said in the statement.
A practitioner in the pension and social security space of the country, Syed Hamadah was previously a director at Actuarial Partners Consulting Sdn. Bhd.
During his tenure at the firm, he led the pension business and specialised in consulting on issues including pension funding and accounting, mergers and acquisitions, pension scheme design, pension reform and training.
He was also part of the consulting team on the review of pension, social security, and healthcare system in Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR: Kumpulan Wang Persaraan Diperbadankan (KWAP) membeli 2 kemudahan penginapan penuntut berharga kira-kira RM280 juta di United Kingdom daripada IP Investment Management (HK) Ltd dan Maven Capital Partners.
Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Datuk Wan Kamaruzaman Wan Ahmad berkata hartanah di Birmingham dan Edinburgh dengan purata hasil bersih kira-kira 5.08% itu sejajar dengan aspirasi KWAP untuk meningkatkan pendedahannya terhadap hartanah antarabangsa.
“Kami akan terus meningkatkan kehadiran di pasaran antarabangsa dan seiringan dengan misi untuk memberi manfaat kepada para pesara Malaysia,” katanya dalam kenyataan hari ini.
Beliau berkata pembelian hartanah itu berpandukan peruntukan aset strategik dana itu yang pada masa ini merangkumi 40% pendapatan tetap, 45% ekuiti dan 15% pelaburan alternatif.
“Pelaburan hartanah pula meliputi 9.0% daripada peruntukan untuk pelaburan alternatif dan diikuti ekuiti swasta sebanyak 4.0% dan infrastruktur 2.0%,” katanya.
Menurutnya, setakat 31 Disember tahun lepas, hartanah asing merupakan 75% daripada pelaburan hartanah KWAP manakala selebihnya di pasaran tempatan.
Pembelian 2 hartanah terbaharu itu kini menjadikan sebanyak 14 hartanah dimiliki secara tunggal dan bersama oleh KWAP dengan lokasi hartanah antarabangsa di London, Australia serta Jerman.
