The actors are so talented like at the end scene Brent was crying and then two minutes later was talking completely fine. Which is something my sensitive ass could never do. All of the actors and incredibly talented, this was just one example that I remember most.
Can you do a Bob x reader(Cherry and Bob never dated and Bob does die, please) where they go to the drive in and all the other Socs boys act like the reader is their mother and goes to her if something is wrong.
Author's Note: no cause why is this so cute
Mom of the Group
Robert 'Bob' Sheldon x reader
They called you “Saint” sometimes.
Not because you were perfect, or because you didn’t swear when Chet spilled a milkshake in your car again, but because you were the only person in that whole golden-haired group who actually paid attention to them.
Even Bob.
Especially Bob.
Friday night at the drive-in was ritual. Your car parked sideways along the gravel so they could all sit on the hood and joke too loud, pass popcorn, complain about how “nothing good ever plays anymore.” Bob had his arm slung around your shoulders, not possessive, just comfortable, like it was meant to be there.
You’d been his girl for a while now. The only girl who didn’t fall at his feet, which probably explained why he looked at you like you were the moon and every ocean tide it could pull.
“Saint,”Trip groaned, flopping onto the passenger side door beside you. “Brill tried to jump the fence and tore his shirt. Do you know how much that shirt cost?”
“Probably less than his brain cells,” you muttered, already digging through the glove box for a mini sewing kit you kept just for this reason.
Bob smirked as Trip pouted. “She’s gonna fix it, isn't she?”
“Duh,” Chet huffed, holding the torn shirt out like a broken toy. “She always does.”
“Y/N, this kid’s not even your problem,” Bob murmured in your ear, voice low and warm.
You just shrugged, threading the needle. “You’re all my problem.”
A few of the others wandered up next, like moths to a flame. Brillwith a scraped knee. Chetasking if you had Advil. Paul flinching when you threatened to yell at them all if they didn’t stop throwing popcorn at passing cars.
Bob watched the whole thing with something soft in his eyes. He pretended to be annoyed, but you could feel the way he leaned into your touch, how he let your hand brush against his knuckles when you passed him the popcorn tub.
“Why do you do it?” he asked quietly when the others finally wandered off to flirt with some girls and their own.
“Do what?”
“Take care of us.” He didn’t say me, but he didn’t have to.
You paused, searching his face. He looked tired tonight. Not in the sleepy way — but in that worn, aching way Bob sometimes did when the drinks caught up with him and the charm cracked at the edges.
“Because someone should,” you answered softly. “Even trouble deserves someone who cares.”
He looked down. Said nothing. But his fingers found yours, twined them slow and steady.
And you knew that under all the swagger and smoke and recklessness, Bob Sheldon was just a boy who never really figured out how to be loved the right way.
---------------------------------------
You’d never forget that night.
The last time you saw him alive.
When they told you what happened — how he died with anger in his chest and blood in his lungs — you didn’t cry right away.
You sat in your car. In the same spot. Drive-in screen flickering, untouched popcorn in the passenger seat.
You thought about how he always passed it to you first. How he’d rest his chin on your shoulder when the movie got boring. How he never told you, not in words, but he showed you — every single time — that he’d started to believe he was worth something, because you believed it first.
They called you “Saint.”
You didn’t feel like one now.
But for Bob?
You were the closest thing to heaven he ever had.
