My final designs for my parody fashion website.
I now plan to create some flyers and / or banners to advertise the website
I‘ve started designing my home page in mobile format on photoshop. Originally I had two main layout ideas but I prefer the first version pictured over the other and so have been working on that one more. I still plan to create a few different outcomes and progress to create more pages.
I’ve used visual hierarchy to highlight certain features such as the logo, the word ‘Sale’ and assist a Z scanning pattern.
I've been looking into web design and frameworks/grids that are commonly used. I found that generally for desktop webpages 12 column grids are used where as for mobile devices 4 column grids are used. I've been working mainly above the fold as that's the audiences first point of contact with the website and so has the biggest impact. I've also been sketching up icons to use on the webpage to represent the shopping basket, favourites and popular social media sites where the audience can quickly share what they're looking at with the click of a button.
I began creating my icons in illustrator myself until I realised that I could just use the image trace tool on images found on google which made it much easier and gave me better shapes.
I also used my charcoal pencils and soft pastels to create some rough textures that could be used to bring out the adventure aesthetic of the brand.
Design Process
Some basic poster designs for if I decide to go down this route for my final outcome.
Before I started I listed a few key principles / practices to keep in mind while designing my posters to the left of my page. I’ve annotated areas of the poster explaining what things are and/or why I’ve chosen to do a some things.
In the final photo I just did some messy quick sketches of other design layouts that I could use and what I think about them.
The piece I have ended up going for is ‘The travelling companions’ by Augustus Leopold Egg. When I saw this piece in the Birmingham museum, what drawn me to it was the symmetry between the two figure, which shows off a lot about their personality. The piece itself was inspired by Egg’s constant travels around Britain and this shows through both the scenery and the motion of the image.
Postcard Project
My task is producing 6 postcards for a pop-up shop at the Curzon Building. For this section of the module I have carried out colour studies and concept outlines/sketches to plan out exactly how the illustrations will turn out. After experimenting with various colour palettes and combinations, I realised I was more interested in the mark making techniques rather than colour itself. This lead me to decide that I really liked how simple Indian ink looked combined with just hint of colour over the cheek and lip of my subject. I feel that this adds a little something to a traditional black and white illustration, it adds more emphasis to certain parts of my piece and really echoes a sense of subtle eroticism captured similarly within Modigliani’s nude pieces. As discussed in my project proposal, I am focusing on capturing my subject’s identity in a covert manner. I wanted to include the idea of a mask, this idea stems from the notion of people wearing makeup to almost /become/ this other person. I plan to play around with different compositions and ideas within my illustrations, however I plan to depict each one in a similar technique and manner so that they all belong as part of a collection and body of work while still working well as a single image.

The idea of this CD Cover is inspiriting by my hat’s idea. When i listen to the DREAM 3 i feel relax and the music type is classical and vacant. The idea comes up with my hat’s idea. I would like to use some gray tone colors to be the dominant tone. I did not use a material image to be the main element. The colors and shape of my hat is suitable for the tone. I type the name and place it in the middle of image. What i want to express is imagination. The song is absolute music without a word, audiences can imagine different sights or atmosphere. Giving audiences infinite imagination is the final purpose. We should not restrict people have different feeling about this CD.
