So I had a weak moment and bought bodylines kitten piano concerto (l562) in sax but I usually only wear classical lolita (mostly flowery stuff) and realised I do not have any shoes to wear it with. Is there anything I could also wear with classical?
I would say to just wear it with black shoes like these or these which are just two examples of shoes that could definitely work for a Sweet or Classic look so you’ll get a lot of use out of them. Sax shoes can be hard to match to fabric color anyway and I feel that black would just look better with the dress than white.
My 50% off Bodyline order is here! I forgot I ordered this many socks!
L562- I’ve seen several reviews that this dress is really short but it still hit the top of my knee. So either they’ve fixed that, or at 5ft flat I’m just short enough. I really like that the lacing on the back is through loops and not lace that’s easily torn. It still needs a good pressing before I wear it.
I’m a little disappointed with the detachable bow. It got assembled unevenly, and I’m not sure I can fix it and keep the raw edges hidden.
Socks 302, 432, and 276- The two pairs of star print socks are nice. They don’t feel as good as 100% cotton, but for 50 cents I’m satisfied. The lace top ones I really love. They’re soft and fit my feet well. They seem like they will stay up alright, but I’ll find out when I wear them out.
I’m pretty happy with everything overall!
Hey, I have a question about bodyline L562 in pink. I bought the dress a while back, but I'm a bit reluctant to wear it to a con next friday because of the lace. It just seems a bit off, in both colour and style and I was wondering if it would look better without the lace. What're your thoughts on it?
I don’t see anything wrong with it. The pink used for the ruffle is a bit different from the pink on the background of the dress, but looking at the pictures it looks like it matches the pink of the piano keys so it works out. The white lace I can’t really see close up so I can’t tell how it is quality wise, but from what I can see of it in the stock photos it looks fine. I think without the lace it would look a bit plain.
I'm in between sizes and I want the cat piano dress. The waist size is an inch too small but it has shirring in the back.. do you think it will fit? It will fit in the bust no problem. (Hourglass figure problems)
Most likely I think? Shirring is supposed to accommodate bodies that are slightly larger, and if your waist is only bigger by about an inch it should be fine. Although, I’ve heard of reviews saying that bodyline’s shirring is both very flexible but also too stiff, but it may depend on the item.
Dear Lovely Lady, I ordered bodyline's l562 and found that the torso is rather short on me, so short that waistline comes about an inch under my chest. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to combine the same dress to extend the torso then use the rest for something else. Thank you so much, I love your blog and have a wonderful day.
Personally I think that sounds like too much money to buy a second dress just to cut it up when you just need a little bit from it. The fabric isn’t exclusive to Bodyline so if you looked around the internet you could find the same fabric somewhere and use that, but it would leave you with an extra seam right through your middle which would look strange and I suppose that would also pose a problem when it comes to continuing the lace along the bodice. There are two alternatives I can think of for altering it. The first would be to just turn it into a skirt as opposed to a JSK. Then you could use pieces of the bodice (maybe the straps along with a little of the bodice fabric) to make a bow or something so you don’t waste anything. My other idea is, if you really want to have it as a JSK but want the bodice to be longer (and it really should be longer. It’s not meant to be empire waist, it should hit at your natural waist.) you could use a different fabric all together and make it look like a belt. If you try to extend it with the printed fabric you’ll end up with that weird seam through your middle like I mentioned before and it will look like an alteration that was made for sizing reasons, while if you were to do a different fabric and have it look more like a belt it will look more like it was meant to be a design choice. I can picture any colorway of the dress looking cute with a black belt with a black bow in the front (except maybe the black colorway which I can see with white or maybe even pink), kinda like this, and then you can use the bow that’s already on it for your hair or nix it all together if you want.
