EXT. A CUTESY BRIDAL SHOP - EARLY MORNING
JACK PETERS is a handsome young man in a chef's jacket and ratty jeans. He has a blob of frosting on his nose, but doesn't seem to notice. He appears to be waiting for someone. He's probably whistling even though it's really early, because he's just that sort of guy.
NICHOLAS HAYES comes around the corner, rushed. He's in the same uniform we saw him in before, only much more well kept and looks slightly anxious. He has a ceramic cup of coffee and is running late.
Hello? Uhm, we're not open yet, if-
No. I know. I'm Jack. I work down at the bakery, and Jane said-
Yes! Hello. She said I should come introduce myself. I'm Jack.
You said. So you're Jack and Jane?
That's not the joke. It's Jack and Jill, isn't it?
Oh. Haha. Uhm. Yeah. Well, anyway I'd better get going, we have a big order to do. It was nice meeting you, uh-
Nicholas. Or Nick. Nice to meet you.
EXT. A CUTESY BRIDAL SHOP - Night, a different day
JACK PETERS is waiting outside the shop, wearing a hoodie and the same ratty jeans.
NICHOLAS HAYES exits the shop, wearing a jacket over his uniform.
Oh. Hey Jack, uhm, we're closed.
Yeah I know. I'm sorry. I just wanted to drop this off
(He hands Nicholas a check)
Jane asked me to drop this off for your aunt. I'll see you later, Nicholas.
Right. Thanks. Uh, later?
INT. A CUTESY BRIDAL SHOP - DAY
NICHOLAS is wiping off the counter as JACK enters, wearing a chef's jacket and holding a ridiculously large cake.
Hello Jack. Do you need help?
The receipt. For the cake.
(he struggles to pull something out of his back pocket)
Thanks, Jack. I'll see you later.
Right. Uhm. Hey, so, there's this new coffee place down the road. It's really good.
Well, yeah. You always have coffee so I thought-
A YOUNG WOMAN approached the counter, ready to make a purchase or ask a question.
I'll check it out, thanks, Jack. I'll see you.
EXT. A CUTESY BRIDAL SHOP - SUNSET
JACK PETERS is leaning against the window, he's dressed nicely.
NICHOLAS HAYES exits the shop hurriedly, looking worried.
Tick tock, Nicholas. That poltergeist isn't going to exorcise itself.
EXT. A CUTESY BRIDAL SHOP - Morning
JACK PETERS is waiting outside. He has frosting on his nose and a determined expression.
NICHOLAS HAYES comes around the corner. He's listening to music, drinking coffee, and looks distinctly not rushed.
Hey, Nic, there you are! I've been waiting.
(He pulls out his earbuds, taken by surprise)
Hey Jack. Uhm. It's like eight in the morning...
Well, no, actually it's nine now, but-
Oh. Whoops. I better open then, huh.
You could say that. It usually is.
Playing with your witch-y stuff again?
No. I'm not a witch, my sister is.
I was working on my blog, actually. You have frosting on your face, by the way.
JACK wipes at his face, but still can't get the frosting off.
NICHOLAS wipes the frosting off and licks his finger, apparently completely unaware of the implications of this.
Mm. Buttercream. Hey, did you need something or were you just hanging around the store at the crack of dawn for kicks?
Oh. Yeah, I just- I wanted to give you these.
JACK hands NICHOLAS a stack of paper that he pulled out of his jacket.
They're receipts and bills and...I don't know. Jane told me to give them to you so you could give them to your aunt.
I'll deal with it. Thanks. Was that all?
Yes. No. Uh...I was going to ask, uhm. If you were free after work? Like...6ish maybe, or?
Well, yeah, unless I get a client or-
GREAT! I mean. Great. Wow, that's...I just repeated myself. Anyway. I wanted to get coffee, or something, if you're interested.
Yeah, sure. I like coffee. Should I meet you, or?
No! Yes? No, it's fine, I'll stop by here. At six. Right. See you then.
Jack skips off while NICHOLAS finally unlocks the shop.
