This was my character design final from last spring! I’ve improved a lot since then but I’m still proud of this. I’m definitely going to continue working on the story in the future so be on the look out for more...
The assignment was to create a family of characters who exist in the same world, and at least 2 must be related. The Queen and the Prince are not related to the Father and the Daughter, all who don’t have names yet...
The Crystal Guardian is an original fairytale (written by me) where people harvest magical crystals that allow the user to produce magic (primarily elemental) from objects like a wand or staff. But the people from this kingdom are such powerful sorcerers that they wear their crystals as a part of them, usually in the forms of jewelry.
Characters (L to R):
The Queen: The Queen rules her land as a benevolent leader. She is as stubborn as she is caring, as well as being the most powerful sorcerer in the kingdom’s history.
The Prince: Being the Queen’s son, the prince has a lot to live up to. But being an optimist, he follows in her footsteps and begins studying magic. Unfortunately he fails because he tries too hard to be exactly like her instead of finding his own path.
The Daughter: After her father restrained her from magical duels, she studies in private until she enters the annual sorcerer’s championship. Bitter and without the proper training she loses the challenge against the prince, as well as her arm and her ability to perform magic. She retreats to the sacred mountain where she guards the crystal caves, only allowing the worthy to pass.
The Father: Once the revered hand of the Queen and the second most powerful sorcerer in history, he returns years after the incident determined to restore his daughter’s honor, using any means necessary.
