"No one freak out. I'll take Marque somewhere else, a little more comfortable for him, and take care of him there," Trecero said.
"You can use the cabin, there are bunks in there," Rae suggested, still covering Collin's ears. Collin had his face buried in his hands. He'd started crying seeing Marque in the condition that he was before he even got on the ship, and obviously he hadn't stopped.
"Okay, that'll do.. Alex, Farrow, you know we're going to need to go back to that land. Something there doesn't make sense, and in order to figure it out and potentially fix it, we need to investigate further. Farrow, teach Alex some basic self defence while I'm taking care of Marque, please," Trecero instructed whilst picking Marque up off the deck.
"I can try.. Though he looks like he's about to be sick, so I'll give him some time to... Come back to his senses," Farrow responded.
Alex was leaning over the side of the boat, he'd gone pale and he was almost in tears. He wasn't cut out for this kind of stuff. He was just an 80s gamer, for gods sake. He played Kirby and drew for a living. He'd never seen blood like this before, and he'd never heard screams like that before. He had a husky puppy and named it Shamu. Alex was just a fragile 34 year old kid and he couldn't stand any of the current events.
Farrow, on the other hand, had some kind of experience with this trauma before. With an assassin husband who's being hunted by 14 different kingdoms, it's hard to avoid it.
Trecero took Marque to the cabin and shut the door, leaving the crew, Farrow, and Alex alone on the deck.
"... So... We need to go back?" Farrow spoke up through the silence.
"I don't want to go back..." Alex mumbled a reply.
"Do you want to go home?" Molly asked.
"... Yes.. Badly... I miss my home..."
"Then you need to go back, and figure out how to get there."

"Are you sure this is what the Opal meant?" Alex asked, worry shaking through his voice.
"Even if it wasn't, it's beyond repair. There's nothing we can do for it except get rid of it entirely," Trecero explained, "Don't worry, he's unconscious, he probably won't feel a thing."
Marque was lying on the deck, completely out cold. His boot and part of his pants were torn off by the dog creature, and his wound had begun turning a nasty, rotting black. Alex was having trouble keeping his eyes open, nauseated at the sight.
"And hopefully, whatever disgusting poison is trying to infect him will be cut off as well," Molly pitched in.
"Do you think that's happening?" Farrow asked.
"Look see, it's growing on the outside of the wound. It looks like an infection, but that ain't like any infection I've ever seen before. It's moving too quickly, it's gotta be some kind of poison or.. Evolved disease. Anything is possible, obviously," Molly gestured to Trecero.
"Relax with the race thing. I'm just an elf, it's not uncommon," Trecero sighed.
"Elves are from fantasy and fairytales. They're not real, but here you are," Molly shrugged.
"Something's obviously screwed up the worlds we came from, but we'll figure that out later. Right now? Dying guy. Help the dying guy," Farrow jumped in, ending the conversation.
"Right."
Trecero pulled a blade from a sheath on his belt. It was a curved blade with saw-like jagged teeth.
Alex covered his face with his hands and shook his head.
"Don't worry, Alex. I'll try to make it quick and clean, OK?" Trecero softened his voice, and didn't start until Alex responded with a small nod.
Trecero dug the blade into the skin just above the destroyed ankle, sawing through and being as fast as possible. Marque jolted even while unconscious, and once Trecero had hit bone, he was shot awake by the sudden stab of pain.
Alex flinched from Marque's now very awake screams, and Rae was covering Collin's ears on the other side of the deck. Trecero finished quickly after, moving the severed foot away using his knife and instantly using a large piece of cloth to cover the wound. Marque was shaking and almost in tears, and Alex uncovered one eye when he heard the screaming stop.
"Now what?" Farrow asked.
"What do we have to do every time we leave a fight with large wounds?" Trecero didn't look up from the cloth.
Farrow shuddered.
"Absolutely not. I'm locking myself in another room while you do that."
