Not gonna lie, one time I watched the cool cat movie the whole way through TWICE when I was drawing something. Don't feel bad. You're not alone. (I shouldn't have said that because now I have the urge to watch it again. Cool Cat is like Hotel California. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.)
It’s a great time when you can kick back and watch trash while making trash :)
Yeah, I saw the whole thing too, and while it was hilariously bad, I think I need to watch it with a group of friends. A movie night with bad movies and just talking over/making fun of the whole thing with a friend group sounds really fun right now.
Imagine Romeo and Juliet writing "William Shakespeare," an unusual play about an eccentric bisexual playwright, and then performing it in front of their confused- and slightly concerned- families.
Okay this is kind of weird but I'm thinking of memorizing a speech from Julius Caesar but like. I can't pick one. They're all great. Help.
Hmm, yeah that’s a hard one.
What feel/mood would you like to give off? I think “Friends, romans, countrymen…” is good for a “power high”, The Ladder and the Adder speech is pretty good if you want to show inner conflict in a character, and Portia’s “Good my lord…,” is a really good female monologue.
Those are the few I can think of off the top of my head.
Favorite Friendship: Cassius and Brutus or Cassius and Casca
Favorite Quote:
Men at some time are masters of their fates:The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,But in ourselves, that we are underlings.
Worst Character Death (if any): Titinius’ death always makes me sad :(
This made me so happy you have no idea Moment: I love the ending where no one dies and Cassius, Brutus, and Portia make s’mores together and cuddle
Saddest Moment: Brutus knowing his wife died and trying to hold himself together
Favorite Location: Rome
The Tempest
Favorite Male Character: Ariel
Favorite Female Character: Ariel (pretty sure they’re non binary), Miranda
Least Favorite Character: I don’t really have one?
Favorite Ship: Ferdinand and Miranda. They seem like innocent dorks ^^
Favorite Friendship: Not sure how canon it is, but I like the thought of Miranda and Ariel being good friends.
Favorite Quote:
Worst Character Death (if any):
This made me so happy you have no idea Moment: Prospero and Alonso walking in on Miranda and Ferdinand playing chess.
Saddest Moment: I read an analysis somewhere where Caliban is a victim of Prospero manipulating Miranda to hate/fear him and that makes me sad.
Favorite Location: That one island.
As You Like It
Favorite Male Character: Orlando
Favorite Female Character: Celia
Least Favorite Character: Duke Frederick
Favorite Ship: Orlando and Rosalind.
Favorite Friendship: Celia and Rosalind.
Favorite Quote:
Rosalind lacks then the loveWhich teacheth thee that thou and I am one:Shall we be sunder’d? shall we part, sweet girl? No: let my father seek another heir. Therefore devise with me how we may fly,Whither to go and what to bear with us;And do not seek to take your change upon you,To bear your griefs yourself and leave me out; For, by this heaven, now at our sorrows pale,Say what thou canst, I’ll go along with thee.
Worst Character Death (if any):
This made me so happy you have no idea Moment: When I played Celia, me and Rosalind played it where we got really excited when we figured out that the nerd pinning poems on the tree was Orlando, and it was really fun to just play all that pure excitement that those lovely girls deserve~
Saddest Moment: Our Orlando played it like Duke Senior was the first person to offer him something for free with no strands attached. Poor thing.
(strictly speaking about the Shakespeare character:)
Sexuality Headcanon: Doesn’t really know and doesn’t really care at this point.
OTP: Richard/Power
BroTP: Buckingham and Richard
NOTP: Richard/Anne (You don’t hurt Anne, that’s like, rule number 27 of the internet or something)
First headcanon that pops into my head: Richard was actually genuinely fond of his brother Edward (as much as he allowed himself to be, anyway) and was kind of relieved he was dying anyway. By that point he had already kind of forced himself to give up his humanity and become everyone’s antagonist, but the memories with good feelings associated with him didn’t leave as quickly. That feeling didn’t transfer to his nephews or the Woodvilles, unfortunately.
Favorite line from this character:
QUEEN MARGARET: O, kill me too!
RICHARD: Marry, and shall. [Offers to kill her.]
or:
RICHARD: And this word ‘love,’ which graybeards call divine, Be resident in men like one another And not in me: I am myself alone.
One way in which I relate to this character: We have a bit of a dark sense of humor.
One thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: All his friends leave him because he’s an awful human being.
cinnamon roll or problematic fave? The sea is too small to wash him clean and has too little salt to season his foul-tainted flesh.
I am sick so please share with me your best AU's to make me feel better
Oh my, I’m sorry you’re not feeling well, I hope you feel better soon.
I’m nowhere near @romologist‘s au-ing skills, but here’s a few:
Star Wars AU: R+J could have Across the Stars as their theme, white lightsabers for Yorkists and Red for Lancastrians, Brutus and the gang straight up murdering the Chancellor in the senate, etc.
Lord of the Rings AU: Tragic characters would be dwarves (usually focusing on filial duty, honor, patriotism, and the balance of those three in perspective to death, being wronged, etc.), comedic characters as elves (they live a long time, or they don’t usually die in their plays), history play characters would be the race of men (capable of being both heroic and strong as well as corrupt and self-serving), and problem play characters would be hobbits (lesser-known characters, people in Middle Earth usually know little to nothing about hobbits).
