Cherik, Babysitting AU?

Charles didn't mind babysitting; he loved working with children, and if he needed some extra money on the side, that was just a perk. Jean, particularly, was his favorite. She was quiet and well behaved, and if Charles ever had children when he was older, he liked to think he would have one like her.

But her house wasn't the one he most looked forward to visiting every week when the time came. No, that would be Mr. Lensherr's

Pietro and Wanda were great children, of course, if a bit rambunctious, but the real reason Charles came by the house earlier than needed every Saturday that Mr. Lensherr had to work had nothing to do with the twins. And though he adored them, he was starting to discover he adored their father and his strong jaw and dry wit just as much.

Mr. Lensherr was glad to have the help and Charles was happy to offer it, even if there were some snags along the way.

"I keep telling you that you don't have to come in early. I really don't have the money for extra hours."

"And I keep telling you not to worry about that, because I'm not always just doing this for a paycheck" Charles offered a sweet smile and Mr. Lensherr deflated just a bit, with a look that seemed almost grateful on his face.

"Well," Mr. Lensherr said, "You had better not have dinner waiting for me again. I may be very cross if you do. I'm running out of ways to compensate."

Charles handwaved a 'sure, whatever' and Mr. Lensherr rolled his eyes, a barely noticeable smile on his face.

No, Charles thought, as Mr. Lensherr buttoned up the jacket perfectly suited to his trim waist, this wasn't for shallow reasons like money at all.
