I've never considered how she came about tbh 😅 since she's not in the main AU and I don't ship LadyHawks, I just found the concept of Umi's quirk and design fun.
It could go either way! HPSC wanting a combo of their best two, or a post-canon LadyHawks where Hawks ended up making a connection with Kaina while visiting her in the hospital. Or she could potentially be an AU kid altogether where Kaina breaks off from the HPSC without becoming a villain, and sometime many years later ends up meeting Hawks.
