I mostly post images from the streams here but most actual work that I do happens on paper. This is a painting I did in 2017 for the publication of a new plesiosaur from Germany.

This Lagenanectes is a basal elasmosaur with some funky dentition. The teeth in the lower jaw erupt sideways out of the bone instead of sitting on top as they usually do.

Lagenanectes — рід еласмозаврових плезіозаврів з нижньої крейди, знайдений у Нижній Саксонії, Німеччина. Єдиний вид, Lagenanectes richterae, був вперше описаний у 2017 році і вважається одним з найкраще збережених скам’янілостей плезіозаврів цього геологічного періоду в Європі.

Lagenanectes richterae

Living in the shallow seas of what is now Germany 130 million years ago, Lagenanectes is among the earliest members of the long-necked aquatic reptile elasmosaurs. This 8 meters (26 ft) long animal’s neck may contain up to 75 vertebrae.
