Grace is a teacher, so he does teacher things and tries to understand but phrases it in a way that pisses off Simon and makes Lain never want to speak again, both know he doesn't mean it in a bad way; both are just emotionally stunted in different ways.
Simon is too harsh for his own good, he sees a problem and is to point it out which makes Grace cry and Lain silent, again both know he means well just needs padding for his punch. He's also not the best at giving solutions
Lain is... Weird. They're direct but also horrible at understanding others emotions. So their way of comfort is physical touch or short responses or just listening. They seem apathetic but they are trying their DAMNEDEST to understand these twos emotional needs
