I added a bunch of mods to my horror world, so Lenny has been pissed off while I keep falling from the sky and running through the aether.

"IM COMING UP GOD!" Lain runs full speed through her house and basically throws herself in the portal.

"What are they doing." Lenny hissed.

The knocker placing down a sign. "Huh? You mean Lain?"

"No, I meant the their dog, Icarus. ... OF COURSE I MEAN LAIN!"

"Their own thing it seems. I feel like you should've expected this with how many times they disappear without warning." The man lights a cigarette.

"I wish they would tell us! Have you seen how many times they have died without us?!"

(Lain has died about 10 times from fall damage)

Grace is a teacher, so he does teacher things and tries to understand but phrases it in a way that pisses off Simon and makes Lain never want to speak again, both know he doesn't mean it in a bad way; both are just emotionally stunted in different ways.

Simon is too harsh for his own good, he sees a problem and is to point it out which makes Grace cry and Lain silent, again both know he means well just needs padding for his punch. He's also not the best at giving solutions

Lain is... Weird. They're direct but also horrible at understanding others emotions. So their way of comfort is physical touch or short responses or just listening. They seem apathetic but they are trying their DAMNEDEST to understand these twos emotional needs

Rocky laughs at them, devourer does not know comfort they create pain

"I once saw the end of the world." Lain muttered softly, mostly to herself as she hoped no one would hear.

"Lain saw end of world question?" Rocky spoke, rolling over to her.

"ROCK- Ah- uhm... Rocky?-" Lain almost shouted yet kept her voice down as to not disturb Grace and Simon. "You never let anything pass you, huh?"

"answer Rockys question, statement."

Lain laughed and sat in front of the Hail Mary's window. "Fine, I used to have weird dreams a lot where I'd see the end of the world."

"Rocky gather that much, how world end, question?"

"Huh... It had to do with the stars being eaten by this big monster! Cracking and shattering under it's teeth like candy." Lain said in a dramatic voice, as if trying to entertain.

Rocky was intrigued and the acting was working. "What did monster look like question?"

"Let's see if I can recall..." Lain thought for a moment, humming a tune before nodding. "Yes, I remember now... It was a giant beast, had the face of a woman, had many legs and wings attached to it! All the legs were arms and hands however... Anytime I saw it I felt a connection to it. Like I could understand it..."

"Monster sounds cool statement."

"Does it now? I guess so..."

"Now go to bed statement."

"... Nothing gets past you..."

Lain makes Simon have flashbacks to legends while Grace is like "yeah yeah, no. We aren't gonna let that happen."

"How would Lain rate Simon Grace in human standards, question?" Rocky rolled over to the human(?) who has yet to sleep.

Lain took a moment before answering. "They're both gorgeous but in vastly different ways, I guess."

"Lain explain question?" Rocky patiently sat down besides them.

"Uh... Hard to articulate how I feel into words but I guess... Simon is like, I don't know, he's scary but has a big heart under the intimidating flesh. While Grace is so genuine, what you see is what you get." Lain waved her hand around before sighing. "Did you ask them the same question?"

"yes, why question?"

"what'd they say about me?"

"why does Lain want to know question?"

Lain pauser before moving her hand over her face. "Eugh, I just- my mom used to say I had the beauty of uncanny valley to me. That it's hard to tell if I was a human or something pretending to be one."

Rocky nodded before answering. "Lain mom bad question?"

"No, not bad... Just..." Lain sighed. "Apathetic."

"Lain mom have no parental instinct. Statement." Lain opened her mouth but Rocky quickly spoke again. "Grace and Simon rated similar, Lain is an average look for humans but Lain uncanny features draw them in, statement." Rocky sounded happy with that.

Lain sighed and smiled. "At least they like my weird vibe."

"Can Lain and Rocky watch that show again question?"

"Hm? Oh, yeah. You like My dress up darling?" Lain smiled wider, giggling a little but honestly she was just happy to have an anime buddy.

"Light haired girl like Lain a lot statement."

"Oh? I guess I'm a lot like Marin."

Food is, like, a big deal in Simon's universe, right? It's scarce, supplies are limited, so any food is a precious commodity, right? Right. So I imagine there's probably a lot of cultural implications to how food is handled. Sharing food is probably a Big Deal, and is considered incredibly intimate.

What I'm getting at is that at some point Grace probably offered Simon a bite of food off of his own plate. His intention was just to let Simon try it so Simon could see if he actually liked it.

From Simon's perspective, Grace essentially just proposed to him.

I kept seeing ppl draw them in the other’s place and I just had to join. But imo, I 100% believe Ryland from the Iron Lung universe would be the clingiest most touch-starved version out of any of them. I don’t see him being able to reach the levels of anger Simon does, so he’s just a pathetic, wet dog. And I love that for him.

So naturally I drew him as the sap he is. God I love these two sm dude. They make me sick.

Also crazy I’ve drawn more Iron Lung accurate Ryland than I have Simon. Just been too focused on my au :b
