Let me tell you the story of Bob and Ethan while I am up. So Bob and Ethan are two guys in my 11th grade class. Funny, hilarious guys and both would be considered attractive by standards of everyone. Bob and Ethan are really, like I said, great guys. They laugh constantly, joke around with everyone, and and will talk to you despite you being awkward and a social walrus. However, you should see them when they are around each other. There is a point in time when the 'best freaking friends on the planet' steps into 'you are so flirting its not even funny' happens. They both have girlfriends, mind you, but every time I look at them, they are hilariously either sitting in each others laps and laughing or whispering in each others ear. Now, I go to a Christian school. Sadly its a school that isn't really tolerant of gay people. A guy named Gabriel, the most amazing violinist I have ever heard, went to our school a few years back and was openly gay. He was asked to leave in the end... or maybe he fled from the principal. I am not quite sure. Either way, you get what I mean when I say that my school doesn't really... approve of that sort of relationship. When I look at Ethan and Bob, every time I see them I think exactly how much I ship them together and guess what, if they are gay, they will never tell anyone. Not at this school anyway. They won't be together because my stupid freaking school won't let them be. I am not a homophob. I don't think many of my classmates are homophobs.... but guess who will never get to admit their love for one another because of a school.
I know this goes on everywhere... where guys and girls are can't be with who they want to be because of rules. I am a Christian, you all should know straight out, but hell, if those two wanted to kiss in the hallway, I would clap my compliments louder than everyone else. If every homosexual person in this situation rose up and admitted it, I honestly think with no reserves on this statement, that the private schools would shut down this policy of not letting people love who they want. They would go out of business for God's sake if they turned down every single bi or homosexual person. Gabriel went to public school and we lost an amazing talent and a hilarious friend. If Ethan or Bob are gay, I will never know because guess what, they won't be telling anyone any time soon.
SO to everyone out there, even if you won't read this, I don't want you to get kicked out of school. I don't... but do you think it would be more important to go to a fancy private school or to be happy? Because school isn't everything, life is everything. There are hundreds of places you can go and be less judged than a private school. Go there, be happy, and hey, if I ever meet you in real life, I will give you a long slow clap as well.
