The thing that messes me up about Thalassa is like. She got OUT.
The Lamiror bit of travelling the world singing wasn't just what fell in her lap, it's what she earnestly wants to do. It's what she left her family to pursue. All the toxic power struggles of the troupe, she wanted out and she got out, she ran and she got as far away as possible and she was happy.
The thing is, everything in aa4 needs to have her back in the troupe. She needs to return so she can die and Magnifi can hold it over his apprentices heads and Magnifi can die and Zak can hire Phoenix and Kristoph can use the diary page and Phoenix can be disbarred and adopt Trucy and Phoenix can recognize his daughter in Kristoph's employee and etc etc the story can happen.
What messes me up is that Thalassa got OUT. She escaped. She was happy.
And, by the very needs of the story she is a part of, she always has to go back.
this pertains really to me and me only but i figured i'd share. woe. valant gramarye be upon ye
lamiroir
With all that Machi came through, and having related with Lamioir and possibly Trucy, I wouldn't be surprised if his life was told as a cautionary tale against child fame. I mean, child stars ended up, drugged, jailed or washed up. Luckily, Machi was only jailed for trying to get money to essentially help his new mother.
Machi: "Be careful what you wish for. You don't want to end up like my mother, or sister, or me."
Machi deserves better.
Headcannon:
Trucy openly accepts Lamioir as her mother, and promises to keep their familial relationship secret. She has Lamioir as a regular guest at her shows, as her songs did back Trucy's Wonder Bar era.
Just had a depressing, but funny Star Wars version of the revelation that Lamioir is Thalassa.
Prosecutor: If you only considered the feelings of your family. Phoenix Wright was going to tell you what happened happened your mother!
Apollo: I don't care what he tells me! He doesn't know her!
Prosecutor: What if he told you this? Lamioir is your mother!
Apollo: No! That can't be true! My bracelet should pulse! PLEASE PULSE RIGHT NOW!
Prosecutor: Not even your worst enemy would lie about that.
...
Apollo: NOOOOOOOOOO!! NOOOOOOOOO!
Machi Tobaye headcannon
I have a headcannon that due to growing dissatisfaction with the Borginian Government, and citing notable popularity in America, Machi Tobaye would be an American citizen. After all, who would be proud of a hometown that threatens death to those who steal cocoons?
Being tried as an American citizen would mostly help him with his work visa. And as he gets used to Japanifornia, Machi would definitely try a Green Card to be an American. He'll still be proud of his Borginian heritage, but not the government that currently runs his country. Heck, the US government might accept him on Political Asylum grounds due to perceived human rights violations in Borginia. Machi practically can't go back there because of the smuggling charge. And Lamiroir, who practically adopted Machi, would probably apply for dual citizenship (as she was probably born in America anyway).
