something so beautiful to me that the davenport siblings lightheartedly and casually joke about donald being a bad father and a completely irresponsible adult. bc i know that it's like a whole thing in the fandom to like drag donald for this but his kids really just like do not care. they acknowledge his flaws but also see him for what he is in the adult who took them in and gave them a family. their dynamic is fucked and sure he's not perfect and he kind of sucks but also donald doesn't really do anything when they say these things to his face. and it's not like he was never familial or close to abc like i mean just look at the flashbacks to when they were kids. he was trying it's just that at some point there was a disconnect (i've already made a post about this) and he distanced himself. leo and tasha really came in and saved his family. which is fun to watch because at points you see how tasha is a better parent to abc than donald was but donald is also a better parent to leo than he was to abc and he compliments tasha's parenting style with leo because he can relate to him more than tasha can. and yet none of his children call him dad and honestly they don't need to. they can joke about their non-traditional family dynamic but when it comes down to it they'd do all they could if one of them was ever in danger. none of the bad could ever outweigh the good even if it seems like it should.
