Lafayette angst.

Perhaps it was the wind or perhaps it was something more. Perhaps the cold feeling he's been having for the past few weeks is more than just low temperature.

The pain cannot be put into words.

Laurens and Hamilton sit facing each other, their smiles bright and shining, eyes exist as a mirror as a reflection and and nothing more, but also nothing less. Lafayette remains stunned in the door frame, watching their hands intertwined, the loss crushing over him like a crack in the ice. His ribs ache, coldness spreading through his entire body, soul freezing inside his chest.

Can emotional distress turn into a physical wound?

He walks back to his room, passing his way in-between the shadows of the corridor, wooden stairs cracking underneath his feet, yet, the sound remains unnoticed, perhaps ignored, perhaps forgotten.

Lafayette slips into his room, the door closing behind him. His steps towards the messy bed are small, slow and heavy as if there's a weight tied to his ankles. The darkness feels welcoming, and the empty bed — which no one wanted to occupy — seems to be the only thing lightened by the moon outside the small window.

The Frenchman lays down, not bothering to change his uniform or take off his muddy boots, if his bed is to get dirty then he's got a completely new one just to the left. Unwanted tears flood his vision, and cruel words spoken in his own voice rings in his ears

Sometimes, men have a favorite companion. Sometimes that will never be you.

John: *sighs dreamily* The word is handsome, Aaron. I wonder if he’s coming to our Revolutionary Club? Wouldn’t that be wonderful? *continues to watch dreamily as Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton start ptedectoral screeching at each other*

Burr: *starts shrinking in his seat, horrified at the idea of that* Yeah, that’s a word for it, Laurens.
