Hey :D just saw you’re open for requests, so I thought I could tell you that idea for a x reader fanfiction for vld I had in my mind: How about a post-canon Lance, who now works at the garrison as a flight instructor, slowly realizes he’s been falling in love with the reader, who he got to know more because of them working together. oooo this sounds really good, it’s been quite a while since I’ve written for Voltron so excuse me if I happen to write anything wrong or inaccurate and I’m in class so this might just have to be a wordy hc list haha. Also idk what gender you wanted the reader to be so I’m just gonna do gn reader. This kinda ended up turning more AU than I thought it would because I got carried away, sorry :P

Lance always thought that he was just the silly little side character
a flirtatious little attitude and some silly little lines
he knew he was important to his team, to his friends and family but sometimes he just felt like he was the side character in his own life
After working at the garrison for a while he knew he was important, he got better and he opened up to his friends, he was okay now
once you joined the staff he flirted with you occasionally, joked around you, his normal routine
But this time was different
sure people acknowledged his flirting, they thought it was funny or just pushed him away
But now someone flirted back
Thought his jokes were funny
He felt so happy, so full of butterflies in his mind, stomach
what you did was so dizzying and wonderful
Every morning when you two would find yourself in the meeting room he’d say some cheesy lines to you
You’d laugh and flirt back
bump hands while making coffee and tea
you were practically teens yourselves again
he never really suspected that you two would ever have something more leveled than that
He wanted you two to have fun and talk and stay.....
he didn’t want things to change but he definitely didn’t want things to stay just like this
he was in an endless loop with himself!
he wanted you two to be together!
he found himself really thinking about it one day, why were you different? why did you make him feel this way?
and then he just thought to himself
‘It’s cause you like them dumby, can’t you see?’
He just sat there after that
on his little desk chair in his room just repeating the words ‘I like them.... I like them???.... I like them....’ over and over and over again in his head
eventually, maybe an hour or so later after his original thought it actually hits him
he jumps up and just stands for a few more minutes
then he just walks to his bed, and goes to sleep
he doesn’t deal with it for a long time
he still flirts and jokes with you
but he just doesn’t have the same enthusiasm as he used to
you don’t say anything for a while
you check up on him, try to spend a little more time figuring out what you did wrong
but one day he just doesn’t see you, doesn’t say hi, doesn’t flirt through the halls
you go to check on him and finally confront him about his weird behavior
he just stands there with you holding his little hands and looking at him super worried and teary-eyed just scolding him
he tells you he’s sorry and he wants to figure this out on his own for now, he doesn’t want to tell you anything until he knows for sure that he can handle this
he finally talks this out with himself
figures it all out and knows he has to stop just flirting with you and he has to talk to you too
he wants to be with you and if that’s gonna happen anytime soon he needs to get some structure, something that’s gonna make him finally get to know you
so instead of flirting every morning and just joking around, he finally gets to know you
finally talks to you about some regular stuff
boring old stuff that’s just about your day, your morning, your nightmares, your dreams, and everything else he can
and it’s nicer than he thought
you talk to him and there’s still a little flirting here and there but it’s just sweet stuff now
you feel nicer now that you know he’s fine, you ask him about it sometimes and he never tells you the details but it’s nice to hear him telling you about his emotions
After so much pushing from the team he finally asks you out on a date
from there it’s only clockwork until you two start dating
he feels like a teen again
it’s something so fresh and new
he feels light-hearted and there are butterflies in his head all the time now because of you
he doesn’t feel alone anymore
he feels like the main character of his own story for once
and with you, he’s not only that but so much more
Not only does he want to be with you
he feels so happy, that finally, he feels real
sorry if this was bad I was in class and just really wanted to speed write it. I haven’t watched Voltron since it ended so my memory is just a blur after that whole mess haha.
