Now that Chapter 12 is finally finished, I can at last share the headcanons about the girls and their minis that I promised in this long post that I wrote down a few months ago.
Aerobolt & Rainbow
Bolt likes to rest on his huge pillow nest in Rainbow’s house. She just joins him and chills there too
He makes chirping sounds to talk to animals. Tank likes him a lot
Watches Rainbow like a hawk— literally. He doesn’t even realize he does it. He even stares at her while she sleeps:
"WTH, DUDE?!"
"Your blanket fell off."
Flying together is their favorite thing. Racing is a daily must
Brings her random sticks. No one knows why
He shows affection with gentle nudges and soft nibbles
If Rainbow does something reckless, expect a mini scolding. He can’t help it
Sawtooth & Pinkie
This little guy loves bath time. Especially bubbles. It’s his secret happy place
He can stay in the water for hours just recharging. Chill shark = happy shark
Sits politely while Pinkie bakes, totally amazed by her skills and tools
Tried helping once. Ended in a flour explosion. They just laughed it off
He thinks the oven is literal magic
Loves hugs, kisses and all the snuggles
His tail wags when he’s happy. It’s ridiculously cute
Enjoys her singing and loves dancing with her
Sometimes hums little tunes to himself when no one’s around
Tricerashot & Applejack
He shows off by knocking apples down with headbutts. It’s way faster than bucking
Grumbles when AJ tries to help, claims he can handle things on his own
Despises her dog and those chickens. Always in his way
Got super muddy once. AJ chased him down with a hose. He lost. She scrubbed him clean
He hates water and bath time
Gently head-bumps her leg when he wants attention (but acts like he doesn’t)
Loves getting scratched… but would never admit it
Sometimes wakes her up in the middle of the night cus he’s bored
Loves TV— Land Before Time is his absolute favorite, fight me
During breaks, they rest under a tree while AJ plays her guitar. It’s their thing
Buzzstrike & Sunset
At first, he’s very careful. Not wanting to break anything or touch stuff without permission in her home
Offers to help with chores. Very polite and thoughtful
Sunset told him he doesn’t have to help all the time, this is his home too. He can relax
He tried comics and games but they didn’t really click with him
She suggested drawing. He was unsure at the beginning but gave it a go anyway
After some quiet time, he shyly gave her his drawing— it’s of her. It looked like it was drawn by a kid. Sunset teared up:
“Miss Shimmer?! I-is it bad?”
“No, no! It’s wonderful. You did great!”
She puts it on the fridge and hugs him tight. He’s so happy he promises to draw more
Head pats = favorite reward. His “wings” can also twitch when he's happy
Doesn’t like sleeping alone. He quietly sneaks to her bedside at night for comfort
He and her pet gecko Ray are total pals
Sunset sees him as a little brother. If anyone insults him? Terrifying Big Sister Mode: activated
Lancelon & Fluttershy
She introduces him to all her animal friends and shares fun facts about each one
Constantly asks if he has recharged or eaten enough, very nurturing toward him
She gets worried when he overworks himself or skips rest
Cats love him, especially his warmth. They nap on him all the time
He’s incredibly gentle with small animals, always careful where he steps or sits
I like to think that he can remove his sharp weapon and shield from his arms whenever he’s near Fluttershy or the animals
Gets timid and flustered when she hugs or compliments him
Angel disapproves tho. Gets jealous when Lancelon gets more of her attention
Bashbreaker & Rarity
Despite his tough look, he’s a distinguished little gentleman
Helps her with all the heavy lifting and trails behind her like a puppy
He and Opal do not get along
Does his best to keep things neat but his size makes it tricky
Bumps into things now and then, still learning his spacing
Rarity always checks in to make sure he’s okay and not overworking himself
She gives him energon treats and little gifts to show her gratitude (and mostly cus she likes to spoil him)
Bashbreaker has the biggest, fluffiest bed out of all the Mini-Cons. Absolute luxury
She calls him “deary” often. He gets flustered and looks away, which only makes her giggle more
He’s always alert and ready to defend her. Small but mighty
Windstrike & Twilight
She gives him all kinds of books. He devours them, especially the ones for human culture and biology
Loves solving puzzles and keeping everything organized
Spends time with Spike when Twilight’s busy, they get along well
When she falls asleep on her desk, he brings her a blanket and coffee
Likes sitting close, just listening to her read or ramble about inventions/ideas
If she overworks, he’ll take her hand and guide her to bed. No arguments
Loves watching educational programs. Documentaries are his jam
🚨 WARNING: This post contains spoilers for Book 4 of the RnM series!
If you don’t want to get spoiled, I highly recommend skipping this post to avoid major story details! You’ve been warned! 🚨
Okay, so…
The girls are getting MINI-CONS!!! ✨
Yeah, that’s right! Each of the girls is going to be partnered with a Weaponizer Mini-Con, which makes things even more intense. The Weaponizers are known for transforming into powerful weapons that enhance their partner’s combat abilities, so you can imagine the insane action scenes and strategies this opens up!
Now, I know what you’re probably thinking: “Why Mini-Cons? Why now?”
Well, without giving too much away, this development ties deeply into the evolving bond between the girls and their Cybertronian allies. With growing threats on the horizon and enemies adapting in terrifying ways, the team needed something more— an upgrade, yes, but also new relationships and connections that help them grow. Let’s be honest, Mini-Cons are adorable, deadly and full of personality, what’s not to love?
And here’s the kicker… there are SEVEN of them, one for each of the girls. Like— this cannot be a coincidence, Hasbro. You don’t just assign exactly seven Mini-Cons and not expect fans like me to start connecting the dots.
Now, let’s talk about these little guys!
The Mini-Cons may be small in size but they’ve always had huge potential and it’s finally time they’re getting the attention they deserve!
If you’ve seen Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015), then you already know a bit about their backstory. Despite how cool and creative they were, the Mini-Cons didn’t get nearly enough time in the spotlight. Most of them were introduced, hyped up with some really intriguing powers or lore, and then… poof. Gone. They just faded into the background while the bigger bots took center stage. I remember feeling genuinely disappointed watching them get sidelined when it was obvious they had so much more to offer.
Pairing them with the girls not only gives them a second chance to shine, but it also opens the door for new kinds of relationships, character growth and unique team dynamics we haven’t seen before.
1. Aerobolt
The leader of the Mini-Cons and one of the most memorable ones from Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015).
First off, his design is awesome. He’s sleek, sharp and eagle-like, with powerful wings that make him look both cool and majestic. You can tell just by looking at him that he’s a leader. His voice actor was amazing (Steve Blum), giving him a deep, powerful tone that really fit his wise and calm personality.
Aerobolt has a lot in common with Optimus. He’s brave, noble and always tries to do the right thing. He’s the kind of character who leads with honor, not ego. Even though he didn’t get much screen time, he stood out because of how serious and thoughtful he was.
Pairing him with Rainbow Dash just makes sense. First of all, the flight connection.
Both of them are airborne warriors. Rainbow is known for her speed and aerial skills, especially with her signature Sonic Rainboom, while Aerobolt’s bird-like form and powerful wings make him one of the most impressive fliers in the Mini-Con lineup. Visually and thematically, they were made to work together.
While Rainbow can be brash and impulsive at times, she’s also fiercely loyal and courageous. Aerobolt, on the other hand, is composed and experienced as a leader. He could help ground Rainbow in moments when she lets her ego take over.
She might find him a bit too serious at first, while he might view her as reckless. But over time, they’d learn from each other and grow into an unstoppable team.
2. Tricerashot
Hands down, my absolute favorite Mini-Con! The second he appeared on screen, I had a full-on flashback to my childhood. I was like, “Wait… he looks and acts just like Cera from Land Before Time?!”
The resemblance was uncanny. Just like Cera, Tricerashot is bold and full of attitude. He speaks his mind without hesitation and carries himself with a mix of pride and stubborn determination. I love that fiery, sassy energy.
Cera was my favorite character growing up and seeing those same traits reflected in Tricerashot hit me right in the nostalgia. There’s something really fun and satisfying about seeing a character like that again— someone who's tough, doesn’t take nonsense from anyone, but still has a big heart buried under that tough shell. It makes Tricerashot instantly relatable and fun to watch.
Beyond the personality, Tricerashot’s design is super cool too. His triceratops-inspired features give him this tough, armored look that fits perfectly with his “I-can-handle-it-myself” attitude. What makes him even more fun is that, underneath all the bluster, you can tell he cares. He wants to protect others, prove his worth and stand tall as an equal. He has depth, even if he’s not in the spotlight as much as he deserves to be.
Why I chose to pair him with Applejack.
She is strong, grounded and honest. She’s not afraid of hard work or a tough fight, and she always stays true to herself. She’s got that sturdy, dependable presence that makes her the rock of her friend group. Tricerashot, in his own way, is very similar— he’s tough, stubborn and fiercely independent. He charges into situations head-on and doesn’t like being told what to do, but deep down, he has a strong sense of loyalty and duty.
They wouldn’t always agree but they'd challenge each other in a way that helps them grow. Applejack also has a softer side, one that deeply values family and trust. Over time, Tricerashot would come to see her not just as a bother but as someone he could truly rely on. She would understand that behind his tough talk and hardheaded attitude is a Mini-Con who really just wants to be accepted and respected for who he is. She would help him see that being strong doesn’t mean going in alone.
3. Sawtooth
He’s got all the coolest elements of a mechanical shark but what really makes Sawtooth stand out is the contrast between his appearance and his personality. Despite his looks, he’s surprisingly gentle and thoughtful. He’s not the type to rush into a fight with blind aggression— instead, he approaches situations with calm intelligence and often speaks in a surprisingly eloquent and formal way.
He proves that you can’t judge someone by how they look, beneath all the armor is a kind-hearted Mini-Con who wants to help, protect and do what’s right. His soft nature makes him super endearing. He’s polite, respectful and shows genuine concern for those around him. He might have a monstrous appearance, but he treats others with compassion and warmth. In short, he’s got the looks of a terrifying sea beast but the sparkle of a gentle hero. Cool, clever and unexpectedly sweet.
Pairing Sawtooth with Pinkie might seem unexpected at first but that’s exactly what makes their dynamic so special and unique. Pinkie is often underestimated because of her silly behavior and endless energy, but as fans know, she’s much more than just the comic relief. She’s incredibly empathetic, emotionally intelligent and often the glue that holds the group together in times of crisis.
This shared experience of being misunderstood would create an instant connection between them. Pinkie would immediately see past Sawtooth’s jagged armor and shark-like features, recognizing the kind spark and soft soul inside. And Sawtooth would quickly come to appreciate her sincerity, joy and the way she makes everyone around her feel included and valued. She’d probably name him something ridiculous and cute like “Sharkie” or “Toothy” much to his quiet dismay. But he’d secretly love it. 💙
And their teamwork in battle would be wildly creative. Pinkie’s unpredictable movement and creativity paired with Sawtooth’s precise, tactical skills would make them a surprisingly effective duo.
She would love him for who he is and he would admire her ability to see the good in everyone and bring happiness even in the darkest moments. They’d grow stronger by being themselves together and that’s what makes a truly great partnership.
4. Buzzstrike
Ahhh, this one is probably my second favorite Mini-Con. I want to scoop him up and protect him at all costs, even though he’s more than capable of holding his own. He’s soo sweet. ❤️💛
What I love most about him is his deep and unwavering dedication to traditional Autobot ideals. He isn’t just someone who fights because he has to, he fights because he believes in something greater.
He also deeply cares for his friends. Like, to the core. He believes that their true strength doesn’t come from their individual skills or firepower but from their unity. He’s precious, principled and full of promise. And that’s why he holds such a special place in my heart.
Sunset is a character who has walked the hard path of redemption. She knows what it's like to fall, to be lost in darkness and then slowly rebuild herself around values like empathy, forgiveness and growth. And what’s amazing is that she doesn’t just believe in those ideals, she embodies them. She constantly fights to protect others, speaks up for what’s right and encourages people to be better— not just for the world, but for themselves.
That’s exactly the kind of energy Buzzstrike radiates. He, too, follows a clear moral compass and fights for the greater good. But imagine what it means for him to meet someone like her— someone who’s chosen the path of light after once standing in the dark. Someone who knows the cost of doing the wrong thing and now clings fiercely to what’s right.
They both believe in the power of unity, of standing together when things get tough. Sunset has always been the leader of her team— someone who brings people together and reminds them of what they’re capable of. She’d see this Mini-Con not just as a partner in combat but as someone who shares her vision. He wouldn’t just follow her into battle, he’d stand with her, side by side, as equals.
She’d help him open up and relax a little, let him know that he is finally save and surrounded by people who care. Meanwhile, I feel that he would be a great support in battle and pretty protective. He’d look up to her and admire her for her bravery and friendliness. They’d make each other stronger, wiser and more balanced. In battle, they’d move with perfect synchronicity. And outside of it? They’d be each other’s safe space.
Now we come to the final three Mini-Cons— Lancelon, Bashbreaker and Windstrike.
These three are a bit of a mystery compared to the others. Unlike their fellow Mini-Cons, they never speak at all during the RID 2015 series. Because of that, we don’t get much insight into their thoughts or personalities. Their appearances in the show are brief and mostly action-focused, with no dialogue. So, as much as I loved seeing them, I always felt like there was a missing layer to who they really are.
That’s why I developed a bit of a headcanon for them: what if they’re mute? They might express themselves through action, gesture and body language rather than words. It adds a bit of depth and mystery to them, and honestly, it makes them stand out in a really interesting way. I love the idea of characters who don’t speak, yet still manage to say so much through the way they move, fight or interact with their partners.
Since the show didn’t give us much to go on in terms of personality, I decided to take a creative route and build their personalities based on their designs. Kind of like putting together a puzzle with only a few pieces.
5. Lancelon
Little golden knight! At first I thought he was named LanceloT, since well… y’know. Look at him! He’s practically glowing with classic knight energy. He has a shield and a sharp weapon on both of his arms. And he transforms into a sword!
While Lancelon never speaks, I imagine him as being protective, obedient and just a little bit timid. He’s the type of Mini-Con who stays close to his partner’s side— not because he’s afraid, but because he wants to be useful, dependable and ever-ready to defend. He’s not the boldest or the loudest, but his loyalty runs deep. When he commits to someone, he’s all in. Quietly courageous, never needing praise, just happy to help and shield the people he cares about.
Fluttershy is kind, gentle and empathetic, traits that people often mistake for weakness. But anyone who knows her understands that she possesses a deep inner strength that shows itself in the moments that matter most. She doesn’t fight because she wants to, she fights when she has to, especially to protect those she loves. That’s where she and Lancelon connect most strongly.
This pairing brings together two beings who see the world through compassion first. Fluttershy would see right through Lancelon’s silence. There’s a profound gentleness in how they would relate to one another, a quiet kind of understanding where words aren’t always necessary. And while they may be quiet, they are incredibly strong together.
Lancelon would match her pace and follow her lead, always ready to shield her from harm but also trusting her judgment completely. They are proof that true courage can come from the quietest hearts.
6. Bashbreaker
A Mini-Con you definitely don’t want to mess with. This guy is the muscle of the group, change my mind. His bulky frame and solid armor plating give off some serious tough bot energy. And the fact that he transforms into a hammer? That just seals the deal.
But there’s something warm about him too, like a big brother who’d protect his siblings no matter what. His body language, his movements and the way he throws himself into battle all suggest a Mini-Con who fights with heart. In my headcanon, Bashbreaker is the kind of guy who “uses punches instead of words.” He might be quiet but he’s always communicating. He doesn’t need to say anything to show where he stands, his actions speak volumes.
He might come off as intimidating at first but deep down, he’s got a good spark. Loyal, dependable and maybe even a bit playful when he lets his guard down. He’s just happy helping the team, lifting the heavy stuff and smashing whatever threatens his friends. He’s not aggressive or reckless. He’s careful with his power, aware of how much damage he could cause if he let it get out of control. That awareness adds a layer of maturity to him. He knows when to hit and when to hold back. When to protect and when to stand down.
And now you’re probably wondering… why the heck did I decide to pair him with Rarity? It’s a totally fair question! On the surface, Rarity and Bashbreaker might seem like total opposites. I mean, we’re talking about a refined fashionista with a keen eye for beauty and detail… paired with a hammer-wielding, heavy-hitting Mini-Con who lets his fists do the talking? It almost sounds like a mismatch— almost.
But here’s the thing: the more I thought about it, the more I realized how well they actually complement each other. Rarity, for all her elegance and flair, is far from delicate. She may care about style and sophistication, but underneath her polished surface is a heart that’s resilient, fierce and incredibly giving. She’s someone who believes in standing up for her friends, protecting those who can’t protect themselves and putting her whole soul into everything she does. She’s strong, in her own way and Bashbreaker would respect that.
In return, Rarity would appreciate him for more than just his brute force. She’d recognize the gentleness in him, the way he holds back so he doesn’t harm those around him. She’d see the concern behind his silence, the thoughtfulness in how he positions himself between danger and his team. And in her hands, as both a partner and a creative soul, she’d bring out his best self, just like she does with her designs.
He would be incredibly protective and polite toward her. He would see how much she gives to others, how hard she works to make everyone feel valued and confident and he would naturally feel the urge to support her.
So yes, it might seem like an unlikely pairing at first but that’s exactly what makes it work so well. It’s a reminder that strength comes in many forms, and sometimes, the most powerful connections happen when two very different souls find a common heartbeat.
And for anyone out there thinking that hammer weapon doesn’t suit an elegant lady like Rarity— I have one name for you: Amy. Freaking. Rose. That’s right! If she can twirl through battle in a cute dress with a massive Piko Piko Hammer and still be a total powerhouse, then don’t even try to tell me that grace and brute force can’t go hand-in-hand!
7. Windstrike
And finally, we come to the last Mini-Con on the list.
I think he’s the smart, mature and observant member of the group. Windstrike looks like the type who wouldn’t charge blindly into a fight, he’d analyze, calculate and strike only when the moment is right.
Twilight lives in her mind, constantly analyzing, problem-solving and overthinking. Windstrike, while equally intelligent, approaches the world through stillness and observation. He doesn’t need to say much to understand what’s happening, he simply watches, processes and acts with quiet precision. When Twilight sometimes gets lost in her thoughts, Windstrike would bring her back to center with his calm, grounded presence.
She would immediately recognize his intelligence. She would admire how he analyzes situations quickly and acts with purpose and she’d value his ability to listen without needing to fill silence with noise. And in turn, Windstrike would respect Twilight’s brilliance and her drive to understand and improve the world around her. He wouldn’t be intimidated by her intellect, he’d quietly match it in his own way. She would have a second little assistant!
Thanks so much for reading, everyone! 💜
I really hope I didn’t bore you with all of this. I just wanted to give these guys caring partners who would treat them with real kindness. The girls would definitely see their worth and would want to protect them.
The Mini-Cons would be so confused at first. They’ve been treated badly for so long, they wouldn’t even know how to react to someone actually being nice to them.
I’ll be making another post soon with more headcanons and cute moments between the girls and their Mini-Cons— so stay tuned for that! See ya! 💖
