Save A Horse, Ryder Cowboy! [lancer comm for h3llthing]
thoughts on the Pilots of the different Horus PGs?
>// Gorgon pilots are like family to me, never met a Gorgon pilot I didn't feel a kinship with. We're rare considering most people look at the grappling potential of the Balor and sell their souls to the Greywash. But defense isn't always about being the fattest fucker on the field, it's about putting yourself between your fragile allies and the enemies, it's about being proactive with your approach, instead of having a mech that functions more like an IPS-N Blackbeard. Also, Gorgon pilots truly understand the value of a Good Dog. >// Kobold pilots are up next. A Kobold pilot is the only one to have ever beaten me and my Gorgon in single combat and that makes the frame and their dedicated pilots worthy of respect in my eyes. The fact that most are from Free Sanjak or another revolutionary-minded place only furthers my respect for them. >// Next is Balor. I consider most Balor pilots to be like rivals in the same way that a really annoying little brother is like a rival. Despite the fact that it should be somewhat rare, you barely have to look around the Long Rim before you find some weirdo Greywasher and their bee mech. The whip is kinky, and I respect that though. >// The Manticore follows, and I really got nothing to say about this one. If you pilot a Manticore I find you legitimately hilarious and will buy you a beer after every fight that a Castigation doesn't kill you too. >// That said, I wish there were more Minotaur pilots out there, that's a frame that uses genuinely fascinating paracausal tech. And is one I haven't had the resources to really properly investigate for myself. If you're a Minotaur pilot and you're out past the Annamite line towards the galactic edge hit me up, let me study your mech, I'll give you some Manna for letting me. >// Then, the Balor's weirder older sibling, the Hydra. I don't like the Hydra, it creeps me out. No one mech needs that many interchangeable arms. You look like a spider, and I fucking hate that, stay away from me. Also your mech is based on a mechanical phenomena that makes no sense to the people assigned to research it, I hate that. Creepy. >// Goblin pilots are Goblin pilots. This one would have been higher if most of the Goblin pilots I knew weren't in a really unhealthy parasocial relationship with their OSIRIS. Get help, he's abusive, and it's okay to admit that. You're a victim, and you aren't stupid for being manipulated by a manipulator. >// Pegasus pilots. Fuck you, come talk to me when your gun is a real thing. Maybe then it'll actually do damage worthy of all that paracausal bullshit instead of just being pretend. >// Lich. I would make a joke but I'm worried y'all would go back in time to kill my parents over it. Maybe take a couple deep breaths and remember your pride is a lot like your frame; held together by duct tape and dreams. >// I also made this handy chart so the Manticore and Balor pilots could just look at this instead stressing their brain reading it;
I think a lot of people don't think of the Horus Minotaur as one of the most fuckable frames/pattern groups in Lancer which is a shame. Please consider:
- It possesses more limbs than the standard humanoid frame, the arrangement of which wouldn't be consistent within the pattern group. Adds variety and appeals to the monsterfucker crowd.
- It is designed around restricting movement and immobilizing targets. Spatial manipulation bondage is super hot.
- Avoiding impairment when ejecting with Invert Cockpit has to be a euphemism for not having a refractory period.
- The Law of Blades system gives you the "Predator/Prey Concepts" full tech action. Primal kink is built into the license.
- Internal Manifold states "While inside the Minotaur, you can’t be harmed in any way" Providing a sense of comfort and safety while engaging with the hole it has for a face.
I hope some of you are swayed by these points as much as I am. I'd let it Interdict me and aggressively sync systems until I'm internally metafolded any day.
Howdy, Mothman again, and it’s bad, real bad.
I went to work on this Lancaster, or whatever the hell this is. It’s not a Lancaster. The parts don’t fit right, but they do and they shouldn’t fit. I tried to leave the hangar but the hallway just- grows? No matter where I try to go I end up in the hangar again. I feel like I’m going insane, I don’t know why this is happening and I am So Tired. My coordinates will be attached with this message, but I’m worried this will only get more people stuck in this mess.
I do not get paid enough for this…
Greetings, Mothman.
I have searched through our Archive for any record of similar situations, and such abilities are described as being within the capabilities of the HORUS "Minotaur" Pattern Group, which is known for spatial distortion and typically uses a similar quadrupedal setup to the Lancaster. While we could send a team to the attached coordinates, and we will do so if you believe yourself to be threatened by hostile actors, our records indicate that the Minotaur's "Metafold Maze" does not fully exist in realspace and outsiders cannot interact with it. They do, however, indicate that those trapped inside to always manage to escape through persistent effort, drawing nearer and nearer to escape with each attempt. Remain strong in your hope, Mothman. You will find your way to the end.
so we're playing the Long Rim in a campaign of Lancer But Everyone Is Anthros, and since Fern (everyone's favorite fat orange cattaur who definitely isn't a garfield gijinka) was already my fucked up little meow meow scifi pilot character i simply had to use them!
in this iteration, they're a Sparri technopriest and hacker who left their homeworld to pursue a life you could write sagas about out in the Long Rim, and their skill in posting too hard online communing with technospirits has landed them in the possession of multiple HORUS licenses
Minotaur Pilot here, from my understanding the reason why it’s so uncommon is because the schematics were one of the first to be made amongst Horus mechs, making it fairly odd, combined with the fact a lot of it’s paracausal tech is more subtle means that it gets skipped over for the new shinier mech with more bombastic abilities…. And most Minotaurs go unnoticed by people not familiar with the PG, that and since no one is really sharing the code commonly and it being older, means it’s a lot harder to find
A shame really since imo Minotaurs a deeply fascinating, hell I can walk around the internals of the mech as if they were hallways because it’s so good at manipulating space, no crawling around needed….. Although it also can be spooky because it shares the Hydra’s ‘Not-NHPs’ where clearly the code in the mech is more intelligent and sentient than it should be but there is no casket… I swear I’ve seen the thing move on it’s own sometimes though…
but I’d love to have a second opinion on it’s inner workings
>// Unfortunately, I'm still on assignment out here in the ass-end of the Galaxy setting up Omninet lines >// And I probably will be for quite some real-time >// But if you're in the Annamite near Ngọc Linh Station in a few years or so I'd love to get a look at it
cowards puttin’ ass on a mech, meanwhile the [enlightened] are jackin’ it to the servos inside said ass
fools at SSC try too hard to make their mechs hot, that’s why the organic form that is HORUS always wins
drink deep and [become crab]
// You fuckin GET it // I'm jacking it to the mysteriously flesh-like substance between the Pegasus' plates // Rubbin my shit goofy style to the Minotaur's spatial warping // And of course cranking my hog to the one, the only, the absolute fertility goddess of a mech, the Gorgon
