Translated a poem I like!

It took wayyyy longer than I thought - translating poems is always difficult because you have to take into account the structure, the cadence, the symbolism, the wordplay. 

I don’t think I got it perfectly, but then again, no poetry translation is perfect in my eyes.

In Yoko Tawada’s collection of short essays “Talismans”, she discusses translation and how a translation is a literary work in its own right, that can bring added dimension to the piece and create new meanings that respect the original, even if they do not render the original perfectly in a foreign language. I highly recommend the collection “Talismans” - super fascinating and I love to read about the connection between German and Japanese, two of my languages! 

Anyways, I think I did alright! I also like this spread~ At first i was aiming for it to be neat and orderly but then quickly realised thats not my style and I like cursive too much to go for the minimal look! so that’s why the writing is so messy lol ( perfect excuse!)

红 hóng / red

白 bái / white

黄 huáng / yellow

紫 zǐ / purple

橙 chéng / orange

棕 zōng / brown

蓝 lán / blue

 绿 lǜ /   green 

灰 huī / grey

金 jīn / gold

银  yín / silver

色  (sè) can be added to each color like this: 

红色， 白色，黑色。

It is basically used to define that we mean some type of color, as for me.
