I’m your @langblrsecretsanta2021! You asked for music for a couple of different languages, so I put together three playlists in Welsh, Basque, and Malayalam. Whenever I listen to music to learn a language, I like to have the lyrics with me, so I assembled all the lyrics I could find into books for you to use! And for the Welsh and Basque songs, the English translations are there, too.
welsh playlist • welsh lyric book
basque playlist • basque lyric book
malayalam playlist • malayalam lyric book
all songs playlist • all songs lyric book
I hope you enjoy, and that you have a fantastic winter holiday. Gwyliau hapus, jai zoriontsuak, and
Hello, @herecomesthepolyglot! You can call me Aciir and I'm your @langblrsecretsanta2021. I don't study any of the languages you asked for since there was kind of a shortage, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes.
Since you said you like music I made with my bf a playlist with the songs we like in those languages (tho the ones in Serbian are actually in Croatian, I'm sorry), I hope you enjoy the music as we do. And I made a music vocabulary list. Hope you learn a lot and merry Christmas!
Hi, @languagelearningcorner, Merry Christmas! I’m your secret santa for the @langblrsecretsanta2021.
Your Spanish level is really good so I wasn’t sure what to give you. You said that you’re interested in cultural things and regional variations, so I thought you might like a list of things that have different names depending on which Spanish speaking country you’re in. I chose food as it has a lot of variations, but I’m linking you to some resources in case you want to look for other words: x, x, x, x. This got a bit out of hand, so sorry about the super long post.
I'm also sending you a classic video about regional variations [Qué difícil es hablar el español]. I'm sure you've already watched it, but it's worth a rewatch and if not, then I hope you like it!

I’m your gift giver from @langblrsecretsanta2021 and I’ve compiled a smol resource list to help you in your language learning journey (since I’m also a beginner in French, I couldn’t write about my own experiences :P)
I have found websites, podcasts and youtube videos quite helpful in learning and getting familiar with the language and I hope you’ll find them helpful too😊
Since you’ve mentioned learning from Duolingo, I suggest starting out with their French Podcast (plus you get a transcript) for getting familiar with how the language is spoken.
I also love the DisneyFR channel on Youtube with The Beauty and The Beast being my favorite playlist! (closed captions are enabled!) Disney is always a fun watch (and the nostalgia too)
For culture or history (not exclusive to France), I really adore C'est une autre histoire for their wonderful commentary videos on all sorts of topics from myths to art to history. Their animated videos are absolutely delightful, and once again, closed captions make it sooo much easier to follow💙
If you want to make learning an active experience, then Readlang or Toucan are amazing webpage extensions. I previously used them to practice German.
The BBC French website is also cool if you wanna check that out!
Radio France Internationale or RFI has a live radio feature on their website. On the English version of their website, you get 24-hour French songs in different genres. On the French version of their website, you get to hear the news, though it’s quite difficult to understand if you’re a beginner :(
Now for my most favorite part! Music! I love listening to songs and they just run as background noise as I get my work done.
Most of the songs I listen to are on Spotify, so I’ll be linking them there.
The Jazz French songs playlist - this was one of the first playlists I came across and just love the vibes💛
I love indie music irrespective of the language and I listen to them as they show up on my Discover Weekly playlist, but I don’t really know many beyond the fact that they are indie😅
But here’s a French Indie playlist - again, just amazing
L'Impératrice has become one of my most fav artists in the past year (and isn’t it cool that they are called The Empress!?
Now, my last gift isn’t French related but more studyblr related. Idk if you like to study to lo-fi music but if you do, I highly recommend checking out City Girl on Spotify, especially their albums Neon Impasse and Chroma Velocity. Pointless sidenote, City Girl has been my top artist for the past three years straight since I listen to their songs on repeat whenever midterm season or finals roll around (I honestly need to send them a gift basket for saving my grades :P)
That’s it from me, I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!!! Bonnes fêtes de fin d'année🎉✨
Merry Christmas @queerlingual! Here’s your gift for the @langblrsecretsanta Based on your interest and your passion for activism, as well as your intermediate level in Dutch, I wanted to combine immersive language learning methods with resources on human rights in our small but surprisingly diverse country.
Literature
Feel free to ask me for more specific recommendations as you get through these (especially documentaries are my jam)! I hope you love them as much as I do!
