When Lera and her family come to America from the Soviet Union, she decided to learn English within the first year.

I return to this episode when I feel like learning Spanish is never-ending. When I was in Spain, I felt Lera’s pain. Studying a language can be exhausting, but the payoff is when you start to be able to express yourself through another language and another culture. While in Santander, Spain, I met a couple who told me that sometimes they can’t express themselves properly in Spanish, so they use English.

omg the cutest thing happened so i was babysitting my little cousins today (a 2 year old and a 2 month old) and i was also talking to my friend. english isnt his native language so sometimes i have to explain what certain words mean when we talk. so like.. i told him i was burping my baby cousin. and he was like "whats burping??" and i was like " o you dont know that word?" "no" "its like ummmm.. you know fart??" "ah yeah. fart" "its a uh.. mouth fart.. i dont know how else to explain it.." " AHH ! yeah! i know it! " dkkdidjskxo2jciekxnebfj so cute

this is a thing where you have to say ‘language is’ in yr head before every word/image i mean you dont have to at all you can literally do wtv you want but i am just saying that is how it is supposed to work ok !!! sheesh
