who invented grammatical rules and why did that person hate me so much?? like what did i personally do to deserve this level of suffering

Why do I do this?

I'm Canadian, born in Alberta. Since Canada has two official languages, I was taught French in grade school. I'm not sure if they teach English as a second language in Quebec, but I suppose I can ask Tumblr or my Quebec co- workers. Anywho, I'm vacationing in Mexico. I know a little Spanish. Enough to be polite, but my brain automatically wants to use French if I'm going to use non-English. What's up with that? I was never fluent in French, I've retained enough to be polite and count to a certain number.
