Beatrice and Benedict are same-sex leaning disaster bisexuals who are both extremely surprised when they end up falling for someone of the opposite sex.

hot take: beatrice saying “he hath EVERY month a new sworn brother” about benedick is her teasing him for just having an endless string of boyfriends
Yes. Good. Excellent. Just as Shakespeare intended.
@toomanyfeelings5
YES. YES. ALL TRUE.
I would also like to add that ‘And a good soldier to a lady. But what is he to a Lord?’ is Beatrice asking for confirmation that Benedick is a bottom
David Tennant and Catherine Tate best encapsulate the bi disaster vibes each of them give
Look at these dorks
i have heard tell that @sharkboy460 once called them “two kinsey 5s making it work”
I just imagined some sort of nightmarish future where DNA tests are used to ascertain your citizenship rights to enter certain countries and then I remembered Canada already uses DNA info to deny refugees citizenship by “debunking” their claims for asylum based on their phenotypes and decided that reality is scarier than anything my brain could cook up
ICYMI:
Canada is using ancestry DNA websites to help it deport people
I was walking through the toy aisle at Target when I found this thing and had a VIOLENT AND IMMEDIATE FLASHBACK to when JP first came out and they had a bunch of REALLY COOL T Rex toys that I would have sold one of my scrawny small-child limbs for but my mother wouldn’t get me one because they were “too violent and also ate people” :(
hnn I WANT IT SO BAD
on closer inspection, it makes a lot of really obnoxious noises and is also Too Expensive. BUT FEAR NOT I found this slightly smaller dude wedged in the back!
IT HAS BITE ACTION, AND THAT’S THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS
now we enter the testing phase
yup. looks good.
Extreme Chompin T-Rex says IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS
Can we take a moment to appreciate that we can use this as a rosetta stone to say “EXTREME CHOMPIN’ “ in four languages?
OH SHIT YOU’RE RIGHT, let me check the garbage to see if it’s still there! hopefully I didn’t destroy it in my excitement

“We’d expect to see something like this in Alabama, not Alberta in 2019.”
When Lea Cheeseman came out as bisexual in the ninth grade, her junior high school didn’t have a club for LGBT students. So she started the Calgary school’s first gay-straight alliance.
The student-run clubs, found in hundreds of schools across North America, provide a venue for gay students and their allies to meet — often without the knowledge of their parents. Studies suggest they can help reduce bullying, improve health outcomes and lessen the risk of suicide.
But across Canada and beyond, they have also been lightning rods for controversy, touching as they do on divisive debates around education, parental consent, religious freedom and students’ rights.
Now the United Conservative government of new Alberta Premier Jason Kenney, promoted by some on the Canadian right as a model for the nation, has passed legislation that gay rights activists say will roll back protections for the groups.
The education law, which passed late Friday after a combative 40-hour debate, eliminates a requirement that schools form clubs “immediately” when asked by students, and drops an explicit ban on notifying their parents.
[…]
Kenney said in March that he supported allowing schools to notify parents if their children joined a GSA. After he was elected premier in April, students at nearly 90 Alberta schools walked out in protest.
His government’s education law repeals Bill 24. There will be no deadline for school administrators to grant a student’s request to establish a club, and students will no longer be assured the right to use words such as “gay” and “queer” in the names of their clubs.
The law also eliminates language that explicitly prohibited teachers from disclosing a student’s participation to his or her parents. Instead, schools are now required to follow other laws, which allow school club participation to be disclosed if it would not be an “unreasonable invasion” of privacy, to minimize the risk of harm to a student or to aid law enforcement investigations.

Fuck Jason Kenny and his Alberta conservative government.
Alright, everyone. Here’s what’s going on.
Me and @hockpock have been accepted to FlameCon. And that is a HUGE DEAL. It’s also… in New York. And we, a pair of humble Midwestern queers… will need to be able to get to New York.
We’re doing our best to configure it as cheaply as we can, but travel is expensive and this is a very high risk endeavor for us. We want to be able to do this without a lot of worry. I will be working extra hours to pay for the trip (and return trip), but we’d like to have a safety net in the event of an emergency. Just in case we don’t make enough to get ourselves back to Ohio- we might need your help.
I’ll be queuing some of my work with links of where to buy it, but here is also a masterlist of places to find my stuff!
Redbubble: for stickers, art prints, T-shirts, and a bunch of really random merchandise. Includes some of my photography, digital paintings, and graphics.
Etsy: right my Etsy is all iron-on patches that I designed, all of which look awesome on anything.
Amazon: I have authored MANY BOOKS! (well, a handful of books). What’s your fancy? A bisexual romance novel about witches? A paranormal investigation series about werewolves and fairies? A mostly-true story about The Glue Famine and the Entertainingly Worst Year Of My Life? A small-town crime drama where two dudes pretend to be a cryptid for fun(?) and profit, where the protagonist gets hit in the head A LOT? There’s a lot to choose from! If you don’t like these, you might have a friend who likes these- pass it on!
Patreon: Anyone donating $1 or more per month will get access to process shots of my digital paintings as well as pretty much all of my written work.
The Sweeney Tarot is a tarot deck of my own design, currently available on The Game Crafter. The guidebook is available on Amazon and any information you might need about it is available at @thesweeneytarot
I have put my pride aside and set up a Gofundme to get us to FlameCon. If you enjoy listening to my stories, please consider a small donation. If our donations go over, the remainder of the money will go into a safety net for us- since I will be taking a weekend (plus travel days) off to go to this show.
I think that’s everything. I’ve probably forgotten something because I always do and I’m too excited to think straight (lol.)
I’m so pumped! And anxious. But also PUMPED! (and anxious.)

“They might not be saying that you have to be straight, but they’re certainly saying that you can’t be LGBTQ and live a life that god wants you to live,” she said.

Choice Connect app was first released locally and in southwestern Ontario in 2017
A smartphone app that matches people with their nearest abortion provider launches across Canada on Wednesday.
The web-based app was developed by Waterloo region’s Shore Centre, a sexual health resource centre.
Choice Connect was developed with the help of Kitchener’s Zeitspace and was first launched in southwestern Ontario in 2017.
The app has users enter information about their pregnancy as well as their health care needs or preferences and then instantly matches them with the nearest or most appropriate abortion provider.
“Often patients really have difficulty navigating the system and finding the provider that best fits their needs,” Lyndsey Butcher, executive director of Shore Centre, said.

“It’s a real step backward from professional autonomy, in our estimation,” Jeffery said. “This government has said so often they trust the professional judgment of teachers. They say it a lot. This certainly disagrees with that statement.”
Provincial standardized testing is coming back for Grade 3 students “in the coming years,” Alberta’s deputy minister of education said in an email to all superintendents and education organizations.
The Monday email, obtained by Postmedia, said the education ministry will develop new provincial achievement tests (PATs) for eight- and nine-year-old students “once direction on new curriculum is decided.”
The email also says the now-optional Student Learning Assessments (SLAs) will be mandatory for all third graders in fall 2020, and that schools should expect no extra money to administer the tests. Deputy minister of education Curtis Clarke is “strongly encouraging” all school districts to have Grade 3 students write the optional SLAs in fall 2019, his email said.
[…]
After the UCP’s apparent change of heart during the election campaign, Alberta Teachers’ Association president Greg Jeffery said he was shocked by Monday’s email.
Jeffery encouraged parents to opt their third graders out of the PATs, which they have the right to do, he said. He said non-participation is recorded as a grade of zero, and that if enough parents opt children out of the exams, the provincial data will become meaningless.
“Going back to Grade 3 PATs is something that should not happen,” Jeffery said Tuesday. “Parents need to be aware they have choices.”
Returning to a tradition of children taking high-stakes, multiple-choice exams would be a “huge step backwards” that is unhelpful for teachers, he said.

so who’s potentially making money off these exams that the UCP are so desperate to bring them back?
Alberta NDP MLA Janis Irwin asked the UCP’s Finance Minister to denounce groups he’s associated with who support Conversion Therapy.
The UCP on two exchanges refuses to do so and accuses the NDP of bullying:

At no point did the NDP say anything abusive or “bully” anyone here.

NDP MP, Jenny Kwan: On full and equal access to medical and surgical abortion
On June 17, 2019, I stood in Question Period to ask the following question:
Abortion is legal in Canada, yet some struggle to access this service in a timely fashion. It is not enough for the Liberals and the Conservatives to say that they will not reopen the abortion debate.
Under the Canada Health Act, abortion services are insured, yet only one in six hospitals actually offers these services. Some provinces will not cover the cost of surgical abortion in health clinics. Access is even worse for people in rural areas, the north and the Atlantic provinces.
Will the Liberals enforce the Canada Health Act to ensure medical and surgical abortion is available and covered in all parts of the country?
