omg OKAY, just because i loved your last post so much and i have to know, what are your ~dinner date~ headcanons for D/P? i have so many thoughts about this and i'm intrigued to hear yours, too 👀

David and Patrick absolutely pick Sunday nights as their date nights because the store is closed the next day and they love not having to rush home and worry about opening the store in the morning. when they first start dating, Patrick doesn’t realize that he keeps insisting on paying the bill until one day David snatches the billfold from his hands. they make it a point to try a different restaurant every week, Patrick keeps a spreadsheet on his phone of the places that David particularly likes so they can go back to those once they’ve exhausted their options. they both secretly adore their date nights at the cafe, they save those for when they’re tired from the work day and don’t have the energy to go further than the few feet in front of their store. they both know they’re only going to get a moderately edible meal but they share a private smile every time they slide into their usual booth, remembering the first time they sat there, the taste of freezer burn and new beginnings on their tongues.

💌 Do they send loving/cutesy texts to their s/o?

• david 100% uses texting as a way/excuse to check in on patrick. like seriously he will use any excuse to text patrick just to say hi. he’ll ask patrick arbitrary questions that he already knows the answer to (and patrick usually knows that david knows the answer already but still induldges him) or asks for patrick advice (which patrick also knows david already knows which one is “correct” and sometimes purposefully picks the one he knows david doesn’t like just to make david go off on a rant)

• if patrick’s having a bad day, david will text him random things to make him feel better like a story of his mother’s crazy theatrics or how a squirrel attacked and nearly killed him on the way into the store that day. patrick never has to ask him to do this, david just knows.

• if david’s feeling extra sappy, he will include a single black or white heart emoji in place of words. patrick knows the significance of this since david hardly ever uses emojis because they’re “tacky” while patrick will leave strings of random hearts and smiley faces just to make david roll his eyes and smile. 

• david texts patrick inappropriate stuff just to get patrick wound up (both in annoyance and sexual frustration). it usually isn’t serious at all, just a way to bother patrick when they miss each other or when david is bored and lonely. patrick pretends that he hates it but david knows it makes him flustered.

• also david will text patrick when they are both in the house or the store or even the same room because he loves the way it makes patrick look at him with that special smirk and fond eyes.
