📀 Korean Grammar -(으)ㄴ/는/(으)ㄹ 줄 몰랐다/알았다 📀
💡 Example conversation (1): A: 민수 씨, 왜 숙제를 안 했어요? B: 숙제가 있었어요? 저는 숙제가 있는 줄 몰랐어요. 숙제가 없는 줄 알았어요.
A: Minsu, why didn't you do your homework? B: Did we have homework? I didn't know I had homework. I thought I didn't have any homework.
💡 Example conversation (2): A: 은혜 씨 남자친구 봤어요? 정말 멋있던데요. B: 은혜 씨 남자친구 있어요? 저는 은혜 씨 남자친구가 있는 줄 몰랐어요. 남자친구가 없는 줄 알았는데요.
A: Have you seen Eunhye's boyfriend? He's really cool. B: Eunhye has a boyfriend? I didn't know she had a boyfriend. I thought she didn't have a boyfriend.
💡 How to use this grammar: The grammar -(으)ㄴ/는/(으)ㄹ 줄 몰랐다 is used to end a clause stating something the speaker was not aware of or did not anticipate. (I did not know...)
The grammar -(으)ㄴ/는/(으)ㄹ 줄 알았다 is used to end a clause stating that the speaker had assumed something to be the case, but the assumption turned out to be incorrect. (I thought...)
