SCA and Crystal Witches!!
My love of gemstone beads has led me down the path of Paternosters, Rosaries, and Prayer beads... but I recently discovered a term that I have great interest in: Lapidaries.
Anyone on here have any suggestions for books or websites on the research of Medieval Lapidaries? I think I not only want to look into this from an SCA research standpoint, but also in a witchy standpoint too.
Thank you!!
Does anyone else get frustrated by how few medieval lapidaries (books on the properties of stones) have been transcribed, let alone translated?
No wonder most modern gem-lore is based on new age sources. That and the fact it’s easier to get your hands on a nice chunk of rose quartz than a decent sized emerald.
For those interested, I recently came across a dissertation on the subject here: https://rucore.libraries.rutgers.edu/rutgers-lib/25823/
