Windows South and North (Arches National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view to the west while walking the Windows Primitive Loop Trail. I wanted to capture that view looking across the reds and greens of the Utah high desert with a look beyond to the famous arches carved in sandstone. As I've come to appreciate with this setting, there was a contrast of colors which seemed to complement each other for the final image. I later used some CEP filters (Low Key, Polarization and Graduated Neutral Density) which seemed to best bring out the final look I wanted even with the bright sunlight from the early afternoon.

Letting Nature Pamper Me with Snapshots of Pinnacles National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking the Condor Gulch Trail in Pinnacles National Park with a view looking uphill and to the west across a hillside of trees leading up to the namesake pinnacle formations. I liked how the blue skies and clouds were that color contrast to complement the earth-tones in the lower portion of the image.

I’m Going to Sit on the Deck of this Ship by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: I’m Going to Sit on the Deck of this Ship I will imagine leaving a trail of disturbed water behind A great wave with waters popping and erupting This way and that A pattern in fluid dynamics Even though this wake travels for miles It leaves barely a disturbance on the sides Gliding across the waters of the Gulf of Mexico Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one afternoon while on the Yankee Freedom Ferry Ride as we left Dry Tortugas National Park and Fort Jefferson, still visible on a distant horizon. The view is looking to the west and astern on the ship with the waters of the ship’s wake given a display of erupting waters.

I Always Feel Like I’m Experiencing an Epic Reunion When I’m in Banff National Park! by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at an overlook to the Bow River along the Bow Valley Parkway with a view looking to the west. This is a Banff National Park. While not the famous Morant’s Curve, this is another curve that has a setting I like with of the Bow River flowing by and the nearby railroad tracks. Then there’s the ridges and peaks of the Bow Range that I think I adds a nice backdrop. In composing this image, I took advantage of some high ground I was located on to create a sweeping view, looking down and then across the valley. The ridges and peaks would then be just a little above the horizon to complete the setting, in my mind.

This is a Banff National Park.
