Can you walk me through the GIF process? You've inspired me to start making gifs but I don't know where to start. There are also actions? What are those? Sorry, I'm new to this!
I got excited when I saw this message, as I've been wanting to make a tutorial for my new method for a while. I learned it from someone else a long while ago ( I can not find the original tutorial for this method, so if anyone knows where to find it, let me know so I can link it ). Actions are files you can upload to Photoshop, then press play to automate the process for you, so you have fewer steps you have to do manually.
WHERE TO FIND MATERIAL TO GIF
scene packs can be found on places like instagram, youtube, and twitter
instagram, tiktok, twitter, youtube videos
screen recording your screen is an option as well
WHAT YOU NEED
photoshop
music or a tv show to listen to while gifing ( recommended )
a video file
This gif method is using a video directly in photoshop instead of using screencaps or the import video to layers. There is no need to cut a video into sections to gif either!

Open up your video in photoshop. Make sure that your timeline is up. If it is not up, then go to the top bar and click WINDOW > TIMELINE
Right-click on the VIDEO GROUP 1 (right-click in the blue area ). You will see the duration and speed. You want to adjust your speed to be 50% instead of 100%. This slows down your video and thus the gif itself.
You are going to want to drag what is highlighted in pink over until you can't anymore. You might need to click these images to see what I am talking about more clearly.
Move the thing in pink ( I want to say it is the playhead but not 100% sure what it is called ) to the place that you want the FIRST frame to be )
Move what I have highlighted in pink ( where your work area starts ) to where your playhead ( that's what we are gonna call it even though I am not 100% sure what it is called ) is.
Move the playhead to where you would want your last frame to be.
Move the the end of your work area ( highlighted in pink ) to where your last frame is going to be like shown above. You just kind of made your first gif! You can now sharpen your image, color it, and then save!
The cool thing about this method is that you can easily move your playhead and work area around on the video file to make several gifs in minutes. I used this method when I was doing my Yellowjackets gif pack. I also use this method to make my Danielle Rose Russell gif packs and gif sets!
