Youth Homelessness Series Preview
Here's a quick preview of what you'll find in our new series about youth homelessness. Don't forget to go over to fuzeact.com to learn more and interact.
Youth homelessness is truly a global issue with nearly 100 million youth around the world living on the streets at any given moment. This series highlights eight organizations that are addressing this issue and working with these youth on a daily basis. By exploring this series, you will not only learn about some of the innovative programs these organizations offer but will also hear directly from homeless youth and the positive impact these organizations have on them. Make sure you check out the supporting materials to learn more about youth homelessness and these organizations.
Some of the organizations we will focus on for this series include:
Urban Peak: Located in Denver and Colorado Springs, Colorado, Urban Peak provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Their goal is to meet youth where they are and to provide them with the assistance and support they need to become self-sufficient or obtain the necessary services they need to maintain a safe existence. Urban Peak provides numerous programs and services that are founded on the principles of trauma-informed care to assist youth in reaching their potential and living a successful life off the streets. Services include street outreach, a 40-bed shelter for youth ages 15 through 20, a daytime drop-in center, transitional housing, education and employment services, case management, life skills courses, mental health evaluations, meals and more.
Homeless Youth Organizations in the United Kingdom: Learn about youth homelessness in the United Kingdom through this overview, including commentary from three organizations working with this population. These organizations are implementing great initiatives to not only help the youth who are currently homeless but to prevent those youth at-risk of becoming homeless. One such program is a campaign hosted by Centrepoint, which sends other youth to area schools to spread awareness about youth homelessness and services available.
Other featured groups include:
Larkin Street Youth Services
Youth Homelessness Matters (YHM)
STREAT
New Avenues for Youth
