Viserys's face softened, the fear giving way to a tender, aching sympathy. He had heard those words before, from his own lips, whispered into the dark after the nightmares of Lys and the Narrow Sea. He knew the shape of that longing, the hollow ache of a place you could never return to.
He moved toward her, his arms opening wide, and wrapped her in a hug that was almost identical to the ones she had given him in his darkest moments. He held her against his chest, his chin resting on the crown of her head, and rocked her gently, as though she were a child.
