I’m not calling them “billionaires” anymore
On my quest to align the actions in my life with my personal values, I have been looking into ways to divest and stop supporting these billionaires. So far, I have deleted my X/Twitter accounts, my Instagram accounts, my Facebook accounts, and (for a separate reason) my TikTok account. I know a lot of people are interested in how to channel their emotions into concrete actions currently, so I’ve compiled a bunch of links I found to help you with this process. Under each linked headline is a little snippet from the piece along with my personal commentary.
This post has actions you can take today to stop spending your time, energy, and money supporting the richest men in the world.

After immersing myself in Marvel fics for the last year, I'd like to update it a bit:
I can think of exactly ONE billionaire who decided to spend her wealth & her life doing good for others: MacKenzie Scott, ex-wife of Jeff Bezos.
Good for her, but that's not what I mean.
In the nearly 20 years that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has dominated the US box office, not a single billionaire has shown the kind of moral courage to change that Tony Stark showed in the original Iron Man.
They haven't looked at their product, their company, their legacy, & said, "We're hurting people. We need to shut this shit down."
They didn't change direction, see the damage that still remained, & then take direct action to make amends.
Don't get me wrong: Robert Downey Jr. certainly turned his life around.
However, he isn't leading a major defense contractor. He still isn't a billionaire. He can do a lot of good with his money--and he does! His life-turnaround just isn't in the same category as the character he plays. He isn't the counterexample I'm looking for.
Imagine if the co- founder of Google, Larry Page, worth $137 BILLION dollars, decided to put as much effort into saving the world as a fictional Tony Stark did.
What would he do? If he has a moral crisis about his company, similar to Stark's, maybe he could shut down Google's AI insanity, that steals jobs & pumps pollution into our air, & re-direct his focus.
Maybe he could fund a program to help Americans switch to electric cars, to reduce pollution?
Maybe he could cough up six billion dollars to end world hunger?
Maybe he could save all the rural hospitals that are shutting down?
He could afford to do ALL of that, & still have billions left over!
Larry Page is just one of the 75 billionaires on the Forbes list, & I picked him at random. There are over 3000 worldwide billionaires left---and NONE of them have done this type of thing!
THAT is the fantasy: that someone with Tony Stark's level of money & power will have a life-changing experience, & will then start doing good.
We have no reason to think it will ever happen.
