I discovered Discworld when I was around 12. I was browsing the school library for my next read when I found a book with the grim reaper riding a motorcycle with a rose held in his teeth on the cover. After finishing Soul Music I went back and read the other couple of Pratchett books the school had. Then the town library only had a few more, I read most of them out of order but now I have all of them :)
I’m just gonna start by saying how jealous I am that your school library had these books to find! And also, what an iconic image; it’s got to be impossible to resist a cover like that. There’s something about Death -- when you see his skeletal yet somehow friendly face smiling up at you off the page, you have to find out more.
