Grenada, Nicaragua. 22 February 2014. Sunset boat tour of Las Isletas on Lake Nicaragua (aka Lago Cocibolca). The approximately 365 tiny islands were formed as a result of the eruption of Volcan Mombacho thousands of years ago. Now the islands are mostly privately owned as lake houses, although there is one that is home to several spider monkeys. There is also a small fort that was built to protect Genada from pirates sailing up the San Juan River from the Caribbean. Overall a nice little cruise with lovely views, lots of birds, and some coconut (with rum, aka coco loco ).
