#I think it’s important that it is a respected journalist like Mark Hughes writing this #because him acknowledging the recency bias over Daniel’s career could be the starting point of Daniel finally getting the respect and #recognition he deserves #however I think it’s unfair to compare Piastri’s Spa win to Daniel’s #Piastri was in the fastest car going up against his teammate who made all the mistakes a driver hunting down the lead could make #while Daniel was in the second fastest car going up against Nico’s formidable Mercedes #a car that much faster than Daniel’s that Mercedes thought they could pit him for fresher tyres and have him on Daniel’s tail going into the #last lap #except they didn’t factor in Daniel’s ability to meet his target lap times with scary precision #and reeling in a final perfect lap to take victory #pulling out 15s over his 4x wdc teammate all while keeping his tyres in better condition #it was a formidable win on all possible metrics #a win that wouldn’t have been possible but for Daniel’s confidence speed and precision #it was the perfect example that Daniel didn’t need the fastest car to win but give him a car he was comfortable in #and he wasn’t going to leave a win on the table #daniel ricciardo

Luck finally shone on Max this season thanks to the safety car (and good tactics, by going to softs immediately), and after all the bad luck at Silverstone, Baku and Hungary 🙏 A good deal of luck to win this race, but a more than well deserved WDC win, as the racer with the best stats of the whole season won ❤ Great job 💪
