A mint julep for Ma
On Saturday Sharon received the above photo as a “Facebook Memory” dated May 7, 2011. It was the weekend of my mother’s last trip to our Lake Huron cottage.
She loved northern Michigan and Lake Huron and we had the feeling this would be her last look at it. She probably had the same feeling.
Early May is always chilly in the North Country and my mother, at age 86, was frail. But the sun warmed things up just enough to allow her to sit outside and sip a mint julep, in honor of Kentucky Derby Day. It was the first and last mint julep she would ever drink.
She died seven months later.

So... Buggy and Shanks didn't see Raftel?
