So Late Night Gaming made a video about the community’s reaction to the latest Spring Update Halo Studios has streamed last Friday. Suffice to say here are the main points I’ll dissect:
• Skeleton crew is still working on Infinite while the major group is working on future projects
• With the limited resources of the Infinite team, they had to creatively use that to turn an idea of what was going to be a SPNKR weapon model into an actual new weapon.
• The Halo “community” fucking hates the devs
• HCS was mentioned which caused some mixed reaction
• His sentimental thoughts on the matter
First up, if anyone with half a brain knows for the past year that since 2022 the studio has rebranded, fired their old leadership, and started working on future projects. It should be no surprise that we have is a skeleton crew. If you don’t know what a skeleton crew is basically they have left a small team behind to continue supporting the game while the grand majority of time and resources are being invested into future projects. So while although the PR reception of Halo Infinite has been mostly negative, it shouldn’t discredit the game’s longevity and the work the team has put to make sure the game is stable.
This leads me into another point is how we can get new weapons into the sandbox. In the November update, the MA5K Avenger makes its appearance in the first full fledged official Halo game using assets from the AR and other similar animations. To much suprise the community reaction to it was mixed. Some say it’s lazy and confusing, others like myself have considered taking this as a grateful solution for the lack of sandbox weapons since the Bandit was introduced in S3 (March 2023). This shouldn’t be a surprise with the Fuel Rod SPNKR considered that it’s a power weapon but infused with modifications to give it that familiar fuel rod glow. So why is everyone arguing that the Halo 5 model of it in the game’s files/code should be added in? Well, Late Night Gaming argued that it takes more than that to simply add something from the code into the game.
Such as play testing, languageization, and other technical means of making sure the asset is fully complete. However, due to the time and resource restraint on the company. It’s better to simply get creative and reuse assets to make a new weapon instead of wasting time & resources to bring it into the game. This is what people don’t get: you’re not a game developer.
Gamers just assume automatically that anyone can simply do what is said than done. Which is NOT the case. Thus making the community absolutely dumbfounded.
Let’s get this out of the way: the Halo community fucking hates the developers. Like absolutely despises them for no reason. Which is why I have vocally and analytically criticized the bullshit that these retards and idiots online have caused. Why are we hating these parasocial relationships with the gaming developers? Never have I once thought of a malice content towards a human being. Unless you’re EA/Ubisoft/Activision you deserve that negative clout. But Jesus Fucking Christ this community absolutely hates, hates the Halo Studios developers on stream, in public, or anywhere they make a public appearance. What would the original Bungie devs say with the Halo community? They probably think you’re all a bunch of trolls and savages. God. People will never change their angry, depressed minds on Halo.
Other than that, the HCS mentioned in the video was unexpected and people have that dumb “Oh ESPORTS/competitive modes shouldn’t exist!” To which LNG argued that they should because you can co-exist both casual and ranked modes. It’s just how gaming has been since the start of the era.
Lastly, he says that he feels bad to the devs (valid), the fans that have to put up the BS with the angry fans (valid), and the angry fans themselves (I don’t agree). You should never, ever sympathize or feel bad for the angry fanatical “fans” of Halo. They are the most toxic, pieces of shit ever to live and only exist to cause clout & negative flame wars with everybody. I fucking don’t like them and you shouldn’t as well.
Anyway, that’s the video. Let me know what you think!
