It’s still Cinco de Mayo somewhere in this world and I’m honoring my Mexican brothers and sisters who are the most hard-working people who make the USA great every day, day in and day out ❤️🇲🇽 • If you know me you know I love Lego and I really love creating really cool things with those colorful building bricks since age 6. • This time I created such a beautiful Mexican taco 🌮 restaurant with a full kitchen set up thinking about the small restaurant that opened up right on my block on my Grandma’s birthday and Virgin of Guadalupe’s Day on December 12th 🙏🏽💐🌹 • I was so happy and so proud of this family opening one more restaurant in New York City and I thought of the innumerable obstacles, hardships, and challenges they probably faced to make their American Dream a reality. Hard work always pays off, and they’re proof of it. Don’t stop! Si se puede! ✊🏽❤️ • Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico’s Independence Day; it’s an annual celebration held on May 5th, which commemorates the anniversary of Mexico's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Educate yourself and don’t use it as an excuse to dress up in sombrero costumes and get drunk. That’s just disrespectful and ignorant. • I added three figurines wearing a sombrero that represent the hard working men and women —the jornaleros— who work long hours under the sun to bring your food to the table and who aren’t often recognized as they deserve ❤️ • I also added a charro mariachi that represents the mixture of sounds, stories and culture in the Mexican folklore. The mariachi music is of the country people, it celebrates their struggles, heartbreaks, love stories, joys and growth of the people, not to mention that men, women, and children look so elegant wearing their mariachi outfits! ☺️ • The Mayan warrior represents just one of the many existing native cultures in Mexico and the most advanced culture in Mesoamerica and the world. It also represents the indigenous culture and history that weren’t erased and the core of the Mexican people that is still present today👏🏽 • There you have it!
