Thanks @drowdreaming for tagging me! I liked reading about Khal'roth, he's coooool. I'm going to talk about Launi because I Like Him (and I thought it would be a fun little thought experiment to think about how he's different from Ven'axtha). No pressure tagging @foxboyclit, @mystxmomo, @holographicbutch, @cabinetmonger, @wojtekbc, and anyone else who wants to try it out :>
•Shuraste Zau'ar: His mother and former matron. She didn't want much to do with her kids until they were to become older and more independent, and she was always busy regardless, so Launi didn't see much of her. However, Launi's something of an alchemy prodigy, which pleased her very much (as an alchemist herself). She would sometimes pop in to teach Launi some tricks about the craft when she had the time and was in a good mood, and he secretly still covets those moments. He left the house (and the Underdark) when he was about 30, so he never got to know her much. He mostly doesn't think about her.
•Elaug'onim Zau'ar: His father and former patron. Elaug'onim insisted on being Launi's tutor, since he wanted to test what starting an in-depth education at a much younger age than usual for a drow (privately Elaug'onim was kind of fascinated by humans, and theorized that this was one of their keys to success on the surface). Launi was a quick learner and took well to it; due to this, his father was very fond of him and they ended up having a good relationship. Launi misses him a lot.
•Mavnay Zau'ar: His elder sister and former caretaker. Mavnay was in charge of raising Launi but very much did not want to be doing that with her time; she was initially neglectful and indifferent to Launi when he was very young. When it became clear that Launi was a prodigy and rapidly gaining favour from Shuraste, this morphed into abuse as Mavnay tried to sabotage him to maintain her standing. She was one of the founding pillars of his paranoia. He haaaaates her still and never wants to see her again.
•Kiri'eylin Zau'ar: His younger brother and former ward. Launi saw how much he hated Mavnay and wanted to raise Kiri differently than she'd raised Launi, so Kiri wouldn't grow up hating Launi. Unfortunately he was still abusive in other ways to Kiri, and didn't end up learning why what he was doing was shitty until later, so as it turns out. Kiri still ended up hating him. Kiri betrayed him later on, and it was a key contributing factor to completely ruining Launi's life. Launi cares about Kiri deeply and was in denial about that fact when he was in the Underdark; some time after he fled to the surface with his brother he came to terms with that fact and embraced it, and after Kiri betrayed him it wrapped around to knowing he cares and hating it.
•[redacted]: He doesn't like to talk about it.
Birthplace: Sshin'bauth, a drow town that served as a checkpoint for a bunch of raiding routes.
Job: Mage and supplier of alchemical products to the Vhaeraunite community of Sirneyath. He's also a part of Istlin's deploy team.
Phobias/Fears: He's afraid of… a lot of things. A big one that comes up often is the surface world; he'll only go if Istlin proves that it's really important.

Alignment: Neutral
Flaws: Cynical, abrasive, paranoid. He's a bit of a misanthrope and a hypocrite.
Virtues: Driven, compassionate, innovative. He hates seeing suffering, and will go out of his way to protect or save civilians from danger if given the opportunity.
