How often do you think “when I accomplish *X*, I will be happy?” ⁣ ⁣ Does your happiness lie in a future goal not yet accomplished? Today, I challenge you to find happiness in the present moment. Find ways to savor the moment you’re in: good, bad, and all. ⁣ ⁣ Any #WicDiv fans out there? (If not, go read The Wicked and The Divine ASAP! Minor spoilers ahead but stay for the analogy) ⁣ ⁣ Laura Wilson thought that by becoming one of the gods, achieving fame, beauty, and power, that she would be free and happy. Little did she know that by actually ACHIEVING THIS she endured pain, hardship, and sacrifices she could have never imagined. ⁣ ⁣ I’m not saying that placing your happiness in “X” is going to give you pain and hardship. But what I AM saying is that if you constantly wait to be happy until you reach your goal, you’ll never truly be happy. Accomplishing goals such as your dream job, number on the scale, financial stability, etc requires HARD and CONSISTENT work. I admire Avedon’s work immensely. I’ve tried to make just a few exposures in getting a portrait (@vickiknits is well aware of my tendency to make “just one more”) but I was amazed at the film Avedon used, and the decision to destroy so many. In his portrait of Ronald Fischer the “Bee Man” he made 121 exposures over three sittings, and kept two.
