“Did you want me to help with that one?” he asked, watching Lavi carefully. “It looks difficult to bandage on your own.”

Nodding, Lavi shifted his weight and winced. Once the adrenaline had worn off and they settled into the cabin, their wounds had begun aching. The day had worn them both down too hard. “If you don’t mind?”

“Not at all.” Allen moved closer to Lavi, looking over the wound, and frowned. “You’ll need to take your pants off so we can bandage this properly.”

Lavi snickered, even as his cheeks flushed slightly in the dim light. “Dang, Al. Maybe you should buy me dinner first?”

Allen sighed, though he was less exasperated than he’d let on. “Just take them off, you big baby.”

Chapters: 1/3. Summary: It was an easy enough task Bookman had given him: go to the cathedral, recover a manuscript. Something small to break the tedious work of scroll keeping that Lavi so diligently dedicated himself to. But, a wayward thief and noble have other plans. (Romeo and Juliet/Omegaverse AU). Bookman stepped back. He watched as Lavi quickly climbed down the ladder before a small huff escaped him. “Slacking off, I see.” “I’m not slacking off — I’ve been working all morning!” Lavi jumped down from the last few rungs, playbook still in hand. “I just took a break — a much needed one. If you recall, you’ve been working my tail off all this last week.” “Hmph.” Bookman didn’t argue, dark eyes shrewd as he eyed Lavi. “How far are you in that translation?” “I’m getting there,” Lavi said. He rubbed the back of his neck as he leaned against the bookshelves. “It’s taking a while, though. Most of the words have bled out, so I’m having to piece together what’s written. It won’t be done anytime soon.” Bookman nodded. To Lavi’s surprise, he didn’t chide him over the lack of progress. “That text is not as high priority. It can wait,” he said. “I need you to help with something else.” Hearing this, Lavi’s brow arched. “Oh?” Bookman nodded. “There’s a manuscript I’m awaiting — it’s an old one and valuable. I just received word that it arrived at a safe location, but I won’t be able to get it myself.” Lavi frowned, somewhat perplexed. “Can none of the servants get it?” he asked. “I mean, the castle is full of them—" “No. I don’t want any servants handling this item,” Bookman clipped. “It’s fragile and was taken directly to the cathedral since it came from a different monastery. I’ll need you to collect it.”
