Law of Rhythm
I have heard and live by the Law of attraction, and I have heard of Murphy’s law too. But thanks to Beatrice and ‘The Self Love Fix’, I have learnt that there are lots of laws of the Universe, and particularly about the Law of Rhythm. The Law of Rhythm basically states that life happens in cycles or seasons. Rather than a liner or heading down one direction, it’s more like the different phases of a pendulum swing. All energy in the Universe is like a pendulum. Particular examples are based around my own experiences. Like Beatrice says, sometimes on a self-love journey, particularly in the beginning, you assume its just going to be linear like every day is going to be great (toxic positivity beware) and if a day or even a moment was not good than it felt like something was wrong with you and you were back to your old ways. Actually, so many things in life has this societal expectation to run in a linear pattern. Its like we assume we have to operate in this way. How about mandatory education? Pre-school, Primary school, High school and then when you finish your mandatory education, you can go and get a higher degree at University. Actually, even in a traditional work place usually the structure follows you sign in at a certain time, climb the linear ladder and then clock out. How about dating somebody even? Its (often) assumed the process is meeting someone, share numbers, get to know them, go on a date and by date two you should be here by date four there and then this should happen. Linear structure definitely has its place and discipline in life is important. I think linear structure has its place. But theres also this cyclical and the seasonal part. I am growing to respect and try to understand this process in life. I think what happens is when we get too linear, we don't create space for the cyclical and the seasonal and we start to forget our own humanness. Becoming somewhat aware or just making space for this allows you to have self-compassion. You are a human being and you will have shit days. Maybe you need some time to yourself. Maybe you're not a robot and you can't do the same thing over and over again or feel the same way over and over. Especially expecting different results. This is apart of the law of Rhythm. There will be times of amazing breakthroughs and healing through things that have been affecting you for years, and then you might have days where those very things creep back up because there are aspects of it or certain wounds within it that just haven't been addressed. So they come back up and you aren't feeling as great, but THAT IS OKAY. A pendulum does not swing only in one direction. It goes up, down, up back down and back up again. Just like life. Thats what it is to be human. Life can operate in a cyclical, seasonal way. There is Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer. Then it happens all over again. Like the ocean and the tides, ebbs and flows. Menstrual cycles, even with our breath. In. Out. What about the moon phases too. We have so many different phases and when you think about it, it's something different every day with the moon or with the seasons. It's something different every quarter. Plants can't always be in bloom. Fruit can’t always be harvested all year. When you look life through the eyes of a cyclical seasonal experience, just as much as it could be a linear experience, and create space for it, you begin to have so much more compassion. You are not a robot and the fact that you can't be on all the time the fact that some days you might have off days. You might be sad some days, you might need to process emotions some days. Seasonal thing happens with me too. And the amazing thing about it? There's always Summer. If you're going through a difficult time, know what goes up must comes down. Whatever struggle, trauma, pain or hard time that you're going through in your life, know that on the other side of that is something much greater. I truely believe in everything comes a new lesson. Our rhythm is never set in stone. It is constantly flowing, remoulding and growing. So wherever you are in your rhythm, know nothing is permanent. Hopefully you can offer yourself some extra self-compassion, gratitude and inner peace. In the Law of Rhythm, every season is necessary to create balance.
