I had always wanted to see the #LaConcha lobby building, ever since first learning of it from my high school art text book. It was by by architect Paul Williams, who was one of the first prominent African American architects in the United States and was also the architect who designed the first #LAX theme building (you know the one? It looks like it’s straight out of The Jetsons). Even though La Concha Hotel was eventually demolished in 2005, the beautiful lobby, one of the finest examples of #Googie architecture, was retained and relocated to its current location, as the lobby for the @officialneonmuseumlasvegas. Definitely make a point of visiting if you are in #lasvegas! The #museum has recently celebrated its 5th opening anniversary and the tours of the neon signs which represent much of what people think of Las Vegas are a fascinating insight into the history of “Sin City”. #neonboneyard #sincity #vegasstrong #vegas #laxthemebuilding #paulwilliams #nevada #usa #america #thejetsons
