“Digital Divide in the New Normal”

In the middle of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the digital divide shows its face. People resort to Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) to adapt to the evolving uncertainty and operate with minimal disturbance as much of society ground to a standstill. Digital Divide is an idea of being "left behind", and it termed as a gap between social classes, businesses and different socioeconomic backgrounds, and digital knowledge. In essence, digital divide is an unequal access to digital infrastructure and technology. Hence, new normal is slowly closing the digital divide impacts. New normal is a result of the pandemic, we came up with this set in order to continue living the world despite the chaos and unending variants of this pandemic. In a new normal set, people are more active on online platforms, internet, and the use of technology where all can freely access digital information and digital divide has becoming less impacts.

Companies are being compelled to embrace remote working arrangements, which are made possible by a variety of productivity and videoconferencing solutions. Due to school closures, lessons have been moved online. Individuals of all ages, not just teenagers, have been affected by technology. As a result of the digital media, individuals have now become closely interrelated with in community in which they live and study. They've been with the digital technology since they were kids, if it is not before, and it'll certainly become deeply ingrained and inherently linked to their adult lives. The new normal implies the use of a variety of technology devices as well as the internet to obtain information. This could have a strong impact on people who do not have access to those technologies, possibly causing them to fall behind others who have. The distance between the two has now expanded as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic.

issues require innovative solutions. It could help us to make informed decisions about

Being a media and information literate requires certain skills such as critical thinking. We must always be aware of and check whether the message we are sending is truly educational or informative. Instead of spreading false information, let us use media and the internet in the most appropriate and literate possible manner, such as having adequate feedback, comments, and ideas on a specific topic, and spreading new knowledge and information that will help and improve a particular idea or anything that will benefit our society. We have an advanced knowledge in terms of giving and gathering of information. This skill will be able to identify the majority of false and accurate information in various types of media. Individuals with information and media literacy can analyze and make educated decisions as users of information and media, as well as become skilled developers and producers of their own information and media messages.

Media literacy provides information in different ways through TV programming, social media apps, and newspapers. It is about content of media that uses a range of tools in providing information to the public. For today's learners, information and media literacy is essential because it promotes problem-solving approaches and thinking skills such as asking questions and seeking answers, gathering information, forming opinions, evaluating sources, making decisions, resulting in successful learners, effective contributors, confident individuals, and responsible citizens. As a media and information literate individual, we’re confident that we all comprehend what a visually literate individual is and does. We frequently rely on our own experiences and practice to recognize such features. The widespread appropriation and ownership of media literacy outside of the media arts means that skills and performance are built on a construct of practice that is not largely reliant on visual imagery and is especially unrelated to visual image creation.
