Awake

As I lie awake in my bed this morning I know I am moments away from you. Hours are into play and they are counting down like a timer on a holiday dinner. My heart is pounding faster. I can’t sleep. I am so ready. I am ready for you now. It’s been so long and I just miss you. So I lie here awake. Waiting for this never ending count down to turn from hours to minutes to seconds. So I can engulf you in my arms and hold you again. I miss that. So I lie here awake awaiting this count down.
