Music fragment nr16: Le Sera: Sleep Talking
Dan Michaelson to Support La Sera at The Lexington
END OF THE ROAD FESTIVAL PRESENTS... LA SERA + DAN MICHAELSON (acoustic) @ THE LEXINGTON, 20th FEBRUARY 2011.
"La Sera, the side project of Vivian Girls' Katy Goodman, remains in the top spot as the music blogosphere's hottest act." (The Independent) Since joining all-female punk trio Vivian Girls during the spring of 2007 Katy Goodman's DIY-style bass playing and drifty-faded vocals have sent waves of adoration rippling throughout Brooklyn's pop punk circuit. Her newest band La Sera showcases her signature style, bringing her talent for creating dreamy pop songs even more to the forefront. Support comes from Dan Michaelson, the 33 year-old whisky barrel baritone and short-legged leader of Dan Michaelson and the Coastguards. After his former band Absentee took early retirement due to lack of ego, he decided to start work on a solo album. Following several embarassing phone calls and the odd spelling mistake, renowned Icelandic producer Valgier Sigurdsson (Bjork, Bonnie Prince Billy, Sigur Ros) came over to stay in Dan's London home, the pair of them making the daily trip to Hackney's solar powered Premises Studios to record and produce the tracks Michaelson had written. "Impressive - comes on like Smog fronting songs of Ed Harcourt" Uncut "An Intensely felt and sparsely drawn study of the beginnings and end of relationships" Time Out "A voice deeper and darker than most extended overdrafts - Michaelson is on endearingly poetic form" NME. Doors: 7.30pm Tickets: £8 advance www.wegottickets.com/event/101819 www.ticketweb.co.uk Further Information: La Sera: www.myspace.com/iamkatygoodman Dan Michaelson: www.myspace.com/danmichaelsonandthecoastguards End of the Road Festival: www.endoftheroadfestival.com The Lexington: www.thelexington.co.uk / 0207 837 5371 / 96-98 Pentonville Rd, London N1 9JB Tube: Angel / Kings Cross
