I've just spent the past 5 days in Budapest celebrating a friends birthday. Felt so good to be enjoying the sun and stress free ✌ nipped into Liverpool for a catch up with my cousin and a bite to eat when I got back yesterday. I think Leaf is my fave place to go, all the types of tea are so good and the food is always on point 👌 this was a sweet potato, fig and feta salad 😍 they have a whole host of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options!
Liverpool Life Drawing- Sunday 20th Marc
Back at Leaf with Arthur this week. Loose and generally having fun. Did not feel compelled to get into measuring or angle finding this week. Arthur moved a lot this time; unlike him in all honesty and I think his shifting around had me shifting from drawing to drawing - save myself from frustration and keep things moving along quickly. Good stuff overall, and always a learning experience. Thanks Frankii!
Liverpool Life Drawing- Sunday 24th January
Back at Leaf! Gavin posed again; he does a fantastic job; holds a pose well; good physique and a brooding face which is pretty great. I will say his hair is distracting; and maybe tying it back in figure would help for more accurate drawing.
No measuring on any of these. A couple of instances finding the angles with my pencil but a bit more freestyle in approach. Felt confident and enjoyed depicting muscle that maybe wasn't visible but helps in understanding form and weight. The last pose would have benefitted from more time, of course - but then again, it works nicely unfinished also!
Life Drawing at Leaf- Sunday 7th December
This session proved to be quite difficult. For the first time we had two models, both interacting in their pose. So there was a challenge of finding time to draw both, or maybe just putting a bit more focus on one. Top portion are quick 2/5 minute drawings. Went at it with felt pens, nothing precious; just wanted to record what I saw numbers times. Bottom two I spent more time with, measuring, and aiming to complete an outline and some suggested form. Bottom right was a fantastic one, although 25 minutes really wasn't enough; would love to have had more time. A sensuous pose; could benefit from more time to suggest light and shadow.
The Imaginarium
On Saturday 11th May I was part of a group show at Drop the Dumbbell’s gallery on Slater Street in Liverpool. It was called The Imaginarium. It was nice and busy all day and the party didn’t stop until the wee hours.
